I owned an Estate Wine Bottle Opener for about 20 years, during which time it successfully and easily opened many bottles of wine and was a beautiful conversation piece in my kitchen. A few weeks ago, after all that time, the auger snapped off. As I had been so satisfied with the previous model, I did not hesitate to purchase another. Now I am EXTREMELY disappointed!!! The previous reviewer is correct in that it more often than not forces the cork down into the bottle of wine!! It appears as if they have changed the design, especially of the auger. It seems too wide and flat on the end to smoothly pierce into the cork before the action of the mechanism pushes it down. Very sad that a quality product is not being produced anymore.

This is the fourth Estate wine opener I have owned. While it works nicely its durability is questionable. After a couple of years of infrequent use, two of these units stopped functioning. They would remove the cork but would not reverse to eject the cork from the screw. After inspecting the internals of the unit I found that in both cases the "dog" that reverses the screw was broken. The metal of this particular part is of poor quality and can easily brake. Researching these openers on the Internet finds that you can buy this replacement part, a hint that others have had similar experiences. This could be an excellent product if not for this one serious (in my opinion)flaw. Should the Rogar Estate Wine Openers I currently have also fail I will not replace them with this brand.

Had very poor results using this product. Three attempts to repair with Rogar did not resolve the many issues we were experiencing. To put an end to the aggravation we threw it in the trash.

I have owned one of these wine openers for 10 years, and it has opened literally hundreds and hundreds of bottles.

When the old one finally broke, I decided to get another.

Just beware, there is a cheap lookalike that is of very poor quality. Make sure the one you buy says "Estate" on the side.

I have owned this amazing device for about 10 years and have opened hundreds of bottles of wine. Not only is it a great conversation piece, but this wine opener is, without question, absolutely the best for the job. The variety of cork removers that exist on this planet is truly amazing. Only two make sense to me: 1. The Butler's Friend (two steel prongs -insert, twist, & pull), and 2., this one which requires fewer steps...you don't have to remove the protective cork covering first. And, re-corking is just as easy...although I don't recall ever actually using that feature. By all means, buy one! You'll love it!

This wine opener did not work out of the box. Almost lost a very expensive bottle of wine the first time we tried to use it.
PlumStruck wanted me to pay for the shipping to return it. Outrageous! They delivered a defective product and thought I should pay to return it. We had words.

We have had a rogar wine opener for over 12 years. during that time i have had to replace the handle and the grip that grabs the wine bottle. Finally the internal gears gave out. I attempted to replace the gears but to no avail.

So we bought a new one. The gear mechanism is of poor quality. It stops as it is pulling out the cork and then one must strong arm it to get it to go all the way. As it gets used the mechanism will wear so that the gears will not stick. The costco rabbit for 25 dollars has a much smoother mechanism.

I figured for 100 dollars it would do better than a 25 dollar rabbit. It is not of better quality.

Save the money and buy something that works

I am very familiar with these Rogar Estate openers since I own a business and use them all the time. I wanted another one because we actually wear them out. I went to the company website and they were on back order so I went on Amazon and found exactly the brand I wanted to replace an old one. Unfortunatley, the one I puchased does not work very well. I know how it is suppossed to work because I have several of them. This one requires much more force to operate than it should and I actually have to move it off of the bar to a lower position to get enough leverage to make it work. I was surprised that it worked this way since I am familiar with the brand so I think this one has something wrong with it. I didn't send it back because I needed it at the time.
