5.0 out of 5 stars Great guide to negotiate anything!
Roger Dawson does an excellent job of explaining his techniques in languauge we can all understand. Everything is so easy to apply, there is no reason why you won't be a better person after this read. Every chapter is relevant if you are in business or deal with people every day! Worth the time, I guarantee it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I feel like I should have paid hundreds of dollars!, February 5, 2005
I just listened to all seven of these CDs, and I feel like I went to a top-level negotiation course. I've never gotten so much expert assistance for less than $20 on audio before!

Roger Dawson says that everything in life is a negotiation, and after listening to this, I'm convinced. Day in, day out, we're constantly trying to get people to give us more of what we want then they are willing to give. Personally, I've always been a little intimidated by having to negotiate for myself. Not anymore! Not only do I realize how important it is for to be able to negotiate, I understand how its is a skill that can be mastered with practice and attention.

Dawson's power negotiation principles make it easy for anyone to stick up for yourself without seeming overbearing-even without letting the other person realize they've giving you what you want!

The bonus CD - on how to buy a car and get a raise - is worth the price of the whole package. I wish I'd had this when I leased my car last year!

I've seen this course make a very positive impact on more than one person. One thing I really like about it is that it's not about steamrolling people. It's about finding common ground and making sure both sides come away from the negotiation with their dignity and feeling good about dealing with you. With that said, this course can help you prevent being manipulated and taken advantage of by those who make a habit of steamrolling others, and do it in a way that isn't overly confrontational.

This book saved a lot of money for me over time. I read it at least three times, and each time I read I find something new.
I was scared to ask for what I wanted in the beginning but not anymore. Try using 2-3 techniques described in this book in your everyday life and you'd be surprised how much more you can gain or save.
Amazing book.

Some tips on buying a car and buying/selling real estate are the best parts of this audio book. If you are able to purchase this for a pretty small investment it is probably worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars partly through it and it's already paid dividends, February 6, 2009

I'm only partly through this and it's already helped me.

When I received the cd, my brother and I were in the middle of an important negotiation with a certain landlord. We thought the opposition had the upper hand and we were ready to concede too much.

The cd helped us see the other side in a different light and we were able to negotiate with much more confidence. As a result, we were able to head off the good cop, bad cop tactic right away and the use it against them. Were able to get a more money than we originally thought possible, we used the flinch tactic to get them to offer more stuff and have them feel good about it, and then we used the nibble tactic to get a few more provisions put into the contract when we came in to sign that they would never have agreed to earlier on in the negotiation. I wish I had started reading this earlier and that I had finished it before this negotiation started.

I own my own business, and I can now see how much I've given away over the years. Can't wait to start turning that around.

I'm probably going to buy the hard copy too so that I can really study it and mark it up :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, January 23, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This CD set is one of the best that I have heard in Negotiating. Over the years I have been been to many classes in our profession. Roger Dawson has been around for a while and I believe that a lot of those newer guys have copied Roger Dawson. This CD set has been heard from several of my friends and they all loved the information and have put it to use.

I wouldn't call this the bible of negotiating or anything, but there are a lot of good tips hidden in here and I especially liked the section dedicated to negotiating for a car.
