Nice enough and an inexpensive set to start a collection,

This import all inclusive box set of Roger's CD's and the one DVD reminds me greatly of a similar Sony set that came out earlier this year for Bruce Springsteen. While it does appear to cover all his solo recorded material, there isn't any bonus or extra material here. This is simply a basic reissuing of the solo albums, in fact with almost not a single ounce of extras. The CD's each come in pretty simple sleeves, without separate liner notes, but there is a small booklet that covers the album essentials for each release. I feel like so much more could have been done with the liner or supporting materials alone, again just exactly as I felt with the economy Springsteen box from Sony. Not that this is exactly a bad thing given the overall economy minded pricing structure, but as a fan of both artists I could have stood to have a bit of extras, with an attempt to add some fancy box set fluff and frankly I would have been happy to pay for that effort. For those looking to expand a collection or maybe better start one, this set will do nicely and is a great overall price. You are getting 6 CD's plus a DVD for less than $6 per disk in a pretty sturdy set box fair to mention as well. For what it is worth the re-mastering if there was any, leaves this music sounding as great as you would expect from Roger Waters.

Overall, this is a pretty good box set. It comes in a very sturdy box, and it includes his most worthwhile material. Yes, there is no "Music From The Body" or "The Wall in Berlin", or even the "Leaving Beirut/To Kill the Child" EP or the "Flickering Flame" compilation, so it's not complete in any respect.I'm not sure if it has been remastered or not, although the "Pros and Cons" and "KAOS" discs do look different. And I agree with one of the other reviewers about hearing some things I didn't hear before, so there is a good possibility that these two discs were remastered. I'd give this box set 5 stars if it just had a couple more things. First, it has no lyrics whatsoever. Roger Waters is a great lyricist. His lyrics cover the box set, yet they didn't want to print them in the booklet? Why? I don't think a few more pages in the booklet to include lyrics would have been a lot of trouble. Next, the CD's are designed like mini-LP's, but don't include any inserts at all. Basically, it is just a disc inside a cardboard jacket. It seems as though it will get scratched very easily. Check out "Oh By The Way" for a good example of how to do "mini LP's" properly.

The Pros and Cons, Radio KAOS, and Amused remasters sound great. Clapton's guitar on Pros and Cons still brings tears to my ears. I didn't own it before this set, but the double In the Flesh (and DVD of same) is a great live show in it's own right, but there's only one new song there. Too bad Roger only released 3 rock albums of original material in his solo career. The recent Wall tour was awesome, but get back to work on new material, Rog! I didn't own the original of the opera discs, probably won't listen to these remasters of it any time soon either, hence only 4 of 5 stars.

This is just what I needed.I got a bunch of replacements for my wore out one's.The only thing I don't like is the sleeves could have been better, like easier to take out & put back in(they will get scrathed over time)so I just used softer sleeves.

I recently purchased this import box set, even though I have all the Roger Water's stuff in single disc form, and it didn't disappoint me. The set is totally awesome!! The CDs come in impressive mini LP sleeves and they are packed in a sturdy box. The CDs themselves appear to be remastered because I have heard things on the CDs that I didn't hear on the original releases, especially The Pros & Cons Of Hitchhiking and Radio K.A.O.S. The DVD is great, it's good to see Roger perform songs from all his releases, plus alot of Pink Floyd material. The picture quality and the audio for the DVD is outstanding! The DVD is all region NTSC, even though this set is an import. There is also a booklet that came with the set that gives you all the information on the recording and production of each CD, I really think they should have included the lyrics in the book, but they're not included. I highly recommend this box set to all Roger Waters fans whether you have the CDs or not....it is well worth the low price of $38.00. So go ahead and order it, you won't be disappointed.

Waters material is a mixed bag, but worth owning.,

I wish you could have 3 & 1/2 stars, because that is where I'd really rate this set. What's bad about it ? Well, the confusing and dull narrative of "Pros And Cons Of Hitchhiking", and the relentless angst of "Amused To Death", for starters. Eric Clapton and Don Henley do some great work as guests, but these two records are likely to leave you cold. "Radio KAOS" is a little better, still with a baffling storyline, but it has some groove and some better written songs. So, pick and choose your way through these three studio records. You'll find a few tracks that work and some that bore you. What's good ? The live concert "In The Flesh" CD and DVD are both terrific, even with some slow spots provided by material from the above mentioned records. He has an ace band, featuring Doyle Bramhall, Jr. on guitar and vocals, and they reel off Pink Floyd classics in substantially different versions from their post-Waters Pink Floyd counterparts. But Waters is a great live performer with an eye for humor and his usual spate of dire political commentary. Sure, you could just get the "In The Flesh" DVD and CD and leave it at that, but you'd miss the spectacular opera "Ca Ira" that Waters has composed and produced. If you go for opera, and I rarely do, you'll find "Ca Ira" a little heavy, but enjoyable. If you cannot abide opera, you'll have no use for it. Amongst the studio records, there is enough for me to like to want to own them, and "In The Flesh" and "Ca Ira" are both superb, in my opinion, so the box set is for me. May not be for you.

Egomania running wild,

As much as I like Rog with Floyd, his solo stuff has always disappointed me. When I looked on my shelf I realized I have but one CD, "Amused", which was his "first" (non-LP) CD and I think I played it twice. The Pros And Cons Of Hitch-Hiking: concept album featuring one mostly boring two-sided song, freshly post-Floyd. I have the "no black band on the butt" LP in perfect condition, the best part of owning this one. "The Wall" was so great...this was a letdown. Radio Kaos: another bonehead concept LP about a crippled kid who blows up the world, or wants to, or something. Happy happy! Amused To Death: Rog shows Pink Floyd II how to make a Pink Floyd record. Has all the studio tricks and progger-isms but it's preachy beyond words. Rog sounds weary and lifeless, like your dad just had one too many and is telling you how awful the world is. In The Flesh, Live: Decent concert DVD, better than I expected, but I don't know why I'd want the CD. Next! Ca Ira: An opera? After those tepid solo albums? Why would I subject myself to that? Please. I never felt the urge to own CDs of LPs I don't often play. Too bad, I'd like to like his stuff.
