What are Rogue FlashBenders?

Rogue FlashBender Small Reflector Before and After
The Rogue Bounce Card/Flag is great for lighting backgrounds

Rogue FlashBenders System
Rogue FlashBenders, unique shapeable light modifiers for shoe mount flash, enable unparalleled control for strobe lighting enthusiasts. Manufactured to meet the demanding needs of location photographers, FlashBenders' patent pending design provides complete control over the shape of the reflector.

Dynamic Modifiers
FlashBenders represent a new approach to controlling light. FlashBenders are positionable. You can bend a FlashBender into a shape and it will stay in position until you reform it.

Unlike static flash diffusers and bounce reflectors, dynamic Rogue FlashBenders allow you to direct light where you want it. The result is more artistic control over your photography.

Work Fast

Rather than moving your whole light stand or attaching a different light modifier to tweak a shot, with a FlashBender you can often simply bend the reflector, instead.

FlashBender Features:

FlashBender Positionable Design Patent-pending positionable design allows for unparalleled light control FlashBender Integrated Belt Fits any standard shoe-mount flash using integrated tension mount
FlashBender Durable Materials Durable materials FlashBender Neutral Surface Neutral white surface won't change the color temperature of reflected flash (87% reflectivity)
FlashBender Wipeable Surface Reflective surfaces may be wiped down FlashBender Packs Flat Packs flat for portability (weighs just 2 oz.)

About the Bendable Bounce Card / Flag

Rogue Bounce Card Flag Bent Left

Light Your Subject or Your Background
The versatile Rogue FlashBender Bounce Card can be used either as a reflector to bounce light onto a subject, or as a flag (using either the built-in white surface, or included black fabric attachment) to shield light away from it.

The black fabric attachment included in the package can be used to cover the white reflector in order to reduce its reflectivity. It attaches to the face of the bounce card by hook and loop pieces at the card's corners. This is particularly useful when less reflected light is desired, such as when backlighting a subject or when illuminating a background.

This FlashBender Moves with One Rod

The patent pending design incorporates (1) positionable rod that allows the Bounce Card to be bent into position and held in place.

Rogue Bounce Card Flag Positions

Integrated Mount
The Rogue FlashBender Small Positionable Reflector requires no separate attachment strap, nor any adhesives to be applied to the strobe. The integrated tension strap built into this FlashBender is designed to work with all makes and models of shoe mount flash.

Small and Light

The Bounce Card weighs approximately 2oz (68g), and measures approximately 5" x 9" (127mm x 228mm).

Bounce Card Flag Curved
FlashBender Materials

FlashBenders are made from tough abrasion-resistant nylon and lightweight yet strong coiled spring steel positioning rods. FlashBenders' white reflective surfaces are made from a durable, wipeable, synthetic fabric which has been tested for neutrality so that it won't alter the color temperature of the reflected light from a strobe.

Fits Most Small Flash Units

Rogue FlashBenders fit a wide range of shoe mount flash brands, including: Canon, Konica, Metz, Minolta, Nikon, Nissin, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Quantum, Sigma, Sony and Vivitar.

I love the versatility of this.

It's at least better than a fong or sto-fen for getting flash to a subject in a room with high ceilings where you can't just do a bounce straight off the ceiling.
elogical
This is a nice modifier which easily attaches to my 600 EX RT flash.

You can hold the card with one hand above your head to simulate a low ceiling or a reflective umbrella then bounce the flash against it; your subject will show more details. Varieties of combinations of flashgun angles and heights of card should meet your varied needs of details. For portraits, the small built-in white bounce card of the flashgun can be used to highlight the eyes.

I have long preferred to use bounced flash rather than direct. But there were two problems. Sometimes a white surface isn't near by, and my flashgun doesn't twist around to allow bouncing off the ceiling for portrait format pictures (camera turn on its side). The FlashBender solves both of these problems very well. It was shipped promptly and arrived in perfect condition.

Does what it is supposed to do. I woul suggest getting the next size up, this one is rather narrow but that's my fault for not researching the size.

Light over there. This way that way, up down, left, to the side, weird oblique angle. Does it all! This size is perfectly fine for me and my 580ex II. I like it more than a diffuser (you can always bounce it through a diffusing element), and it packs up so nice and small. Good stuff.

Well built. Easy to use. Effective.

This is a great idea, but for a pro, I'd recommend getting the large sized one. This card is held by one flex-stick in the middle of the card, and the edges flap around. it would be better if it had a flex-stick on either side. Also, the large one works as a snoot. Product build quality is good, but I find myself not using this because it doesn't stay how I want it.

It's a good product, it works well but not enough for my needs. I wrapped it around my flash unit and bent it to bounce off it and didn't quite work as I expected, I have found some uses it however so it wasn't a total loss. I guess my expectations were a bit too high since I thought I could use it for everyday use, however I've found myself using it more for Macro shots than anything else.

I bought the flashbender along with a Canon 430EX II and I must say it's the perfect accessory for any flash if you're planning to use it indoors. The main purpose of the bender is to bounce light off it's surface and that's what it does. The area, even if you get the smallest one, is way bigger than the flash itself which will give you softer shadows. HOWEVER, if you wanna use it outside it won't be as useful because you will want to use full flash power and bouncing the light off the flashbender won't give you full power. It's good for fill flash, and you will get the same soft shadow effect but it won't work if you wanna light up a scene and use the High spped mode of your speedlight. For this case it's better to get a softbox... I must add, that it's good for macro photography, bending it toward your subject.

I really wish I just bought this thing from the beginning. This has got to be the most simple and effective speedlite modifier out there. The only problem is what am I going to do with a drawer full of the other speedlite add-on doodads that I've accumulated over the years?

The strap has a two-position snap fastener, which makes it easy to adjust for smaller and larger flashes. Even with it as tight as it'll go, I still found it flinging off the head of my YN468, so I wrapped a wide rubber band around the top of the flash head, and no more problems. The bendable metal insert makes it possible to get into all sorts of angles without worrying about the top flopping over, and the strap is easy enough to reposition when re-orienting the flash.

But none of that matters if the quality of light sucks. The white portion is large enough to spread the light around, and if you're 5-8 feet from your subject, shadows transition nicely behind them. It's essential to have if you don't have a wall or ceiling to bounce off of. I've even spun it around to light up a room when using studio strobes, so you can actually see the surroundings. There are a lot of nice things you can do with this light modifier, and when it's not in use, it lays flat pretty much anywhere.

Skip the other bolt/strap on adapters, just pick up one of these and skip a few months and a few hundred dollars of disappointment.
