2.0 out of 5 stars She's done a lot better...
I have to say this book really disappointed me. While some good romantic situations were set up, I found the dialogue to be unrealistic, the whole book too predictable, the loving sessions nearly carbon copies of one another and the ending to be in complete soap opera fashion. I've read a lot of romance novels and have been a fan of Connie Mason for 10+ years...

Gabriel, Marquis of Bathurst, was robbed by the same pair of highwaymen, TWICE! He was determined to track them down and see them hang. He never expected to fall in love with one of them though.

Olivia Fairfax stole only from those who could more than afford it. If she and her partner did not steal, her family members would starve and her brother (who had NO idea what she was up to) would be thrown out of school. Not to mention their home was in dire need of repairs. But thanks to her deceased father, there was no money for anything. In addition to all these worries, she had a few more. Olivia was considered firmly on the shelf, yet Lord Palmerson was determined they would wed before her upcoming twenty-fifth birthday. Olivia was just as determined she would never marry the awful man!

***** Author Connie Mason pleases readers again with this, her latest master piece! Clearly Palmerson was the villain, however, the plot thickens when he gets an assistant to help him. Be sure to begin reading only when you are sure you will have plenty of time to devote to your reading habit., because you will not want to stop for a long time. This plot is down-right addictive! *****

4.0 out of 5 stars exciting Regency romance, June 10, 2002
This review is from: The Rogue and the Hellion (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1817 two highwaymen rob the Marquis of Bathurst, a Rogue of London. An angry Gabriel notices the one who accosts him wears a mask, but has green eyes, read hair, and a slim built. However, any thoughts of a counterattack end when the villain provides Gabriel the choice of giving up his deceased brother's ring or his family jewels. Gabriel plans to find this Ollie and Pete to see they hang.

Olivia Fairfax and her servant Peterson hate being highwaymen, but since her deceased father left them impoverished while destroying the family name with his fatal duel over a prostitute, she has no choice if she is to keep her brother at Oxford. However, she never expected to meet Gabriel at the Duchess Stanhope ball that she attends in order to rob jewels. She also never expected his pursuit of her. When the odious Palmerson abducts Olivia, Gabriel goes after them like a banshee. He will never allow anyone to harm the woman he loves even if her green eyes look so familiar to him.

THE ROGUE AND THE HELLION is an exciting Regency romance starring a brave heroine and a strong male champion. The story line is fast-paced and filled with action even on the dance floor. Though the villain is made to have no redeeming value and readers will wonder how Olivia's brother could be so naive about finances, fans will enjoy Connie Mason's latest tale because of the beguiling lead protagonists while eagerly awaiting the sequels starring the other Rogues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very sensual, great heroes!, May 11, 2006

This review is from: The Rogue and the Hellion (Mass Market Paperback)
The Rogue and the Hellion is a wonderful book. The plot is very interesting. Imagine a high society lady of London, disguised as a highway man! Picture a handsome marquis as her victim not only once but twice. The story is fascinating, full of romance, intrigue, and well written as only Connie Mason can do it.

Before you start reading this book, be sure you send your family aeay. Feed the pets and turn on your answering machine because you will not want to be disturbed.

In every part of the book, there was some mystery to be unsolved. The chemistry between Olivia and Gabriel was huge.

Feel free to read, entertaining, light and fabuluous!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mason's Newest Book Is Another Not To Be Missed, June 16, 2002

This review is from: The Rogue and the Hellion (Mass Market Paperback)
If you love intelligent, sexy, historical romances, you cannot miss any of Connie Mason's many books. As usual, the story and characters keep you reading until all hours of the day and night. Warning: Don't read any of her books if you intend to get anything done. Make sure you have time to get lost in a book. Ms. Mason keeps getting better and better, and since she started out so good, you can imagine what enjoyment you will experience with her latest book. What an interesting twist to have an aristocratic lady pose as a highway man and to find the man robbed (not just once, but twice) enthralled with the mystery of this robber. Of course the romance is rough and rocky, and sensual, which keeps you guessing; together with evildoers and mystery. Why is there competition for this lady's hand; a poor Lord wanting a Lady who is poor? Why can't a Rogue give into his true love and find happiness? Well, you will just have to read the book.

Gabriel Wellsby, The Marquis of Bathurst is robbed the same set of highwaymen twice, what he does not know that "Ollie" is in fact Lady Olivia Fairfax, a woman who has be for forced to due so to keep her brother in school. When Bathhurst and Olivia the fireworks start, but Gabriel is a man hiding a lot pain. Pain infact that might the lovers apart forever.
"The Rogue and the Hellion" was the first book that I have read by Connie Mason. And it was really good. Ms. Mason gives the readers strong characters with good plots. The only reason that I didn't give it fives stars was that Bathurst's subplot seem to take a little long to reslove itself.

Wow this one sizzles - which I absolutely loved!!! Gabriel was the type of rogue i look forward to reading about - something dark in his past causes him to behave so wickedly then he meets the right woman and he starts to slowly change but uses his rakish qualities to make for a hot romance with the lovely Olivia. They meet in the stangest of ways - she hold him up at gun point and he is captivated and from then on the story just gets better and better -I am so looking forward to reading about his friends!!

Great book. I could not put it down, which was a good thing, because my friend was bitting at the bit to get her hands on it.
This was my first Connie Mason Book, but it will not be my last.
THE ROGUE AND THE HELLION has the twist and turns that keep you reading until the end.

I have to say this book really disappointed me. While some good romantic situations were set up, I found the dialogue to be unrealistic, the whole book too predictable, the loving sessions nearly carbon copies of one another and the ending to be in complete soap opera fashion. I've read a lot of romance novels and have been a fan of Connie Mason for 10+ years (especially the "Bold Land, Bold Love" series), but I found this book to be too formulaic, predictable and contrived. She's done better.

4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed it..., October 23, 2007
This review is from: The Rogue and the Hellion (Mass Market Paperback)
I've always been a big Connie Mason fan & this book didn't disappoint. I'm not a huge fan of European settings but I didn't mind this one at all. All the characters were very enjoyable & it left me looking forward to the next 2 books in this series. This was the first in the 3 book Rogues of London series & the series looks to be very promising. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Connie has done it again!, October 13, 2002
This review is from: The Rogue and the Hellion (Mass Market Paperback)
I have loved everything Connie Mason has wrote. Her books are filled with humor, danger, excitement, passion and love. Her characters have depth and you actually become involved with the story.

This is a wonderful tale of danger and scandal. The hero, Gabriel the Marquis of Bathurst has just been robbed at gunpoint by the most intriguing highwayman. He can't get the robbers emerald eyes out of his mind but when he finds out his highwayman is the Hellion Olivia Fairfax he is thrown for a loop. Olivia has taken to a life of crime in order to survive. She is daring and strong willed but when Gabriel takes her in his arms she finds herself vulnerable. The two almost burn up in each others arms. But there are obsticals standing in the path to thier happiness. Overcoming them is no easy task but one they will embark on together.

There are wonderful supporting characters that add to the fun of this book. Also Connie promises that two of these characters will get their own books. I really enjoyed this book and eagerly await her next book.
