Mixed feelings on this high seas adventure,
By
This review is from: Rogue (Mass Market Paperback)
Captain Cole Leighton is seeking revenge. The object of his hatred is a pirate named Dragon but no one can identify Dragon because he leaves no survivors. Cole holds the Dragon responsible for his parent's death and absolutely nothing is going to get in the way of his revenge.
Bailey Spenser, a North Carolina Colonist, is attacked by the Dragon but manages to escape before he kills her. She is discovered unconscious by Cole's crew and taken aboard his ship. Bailey at first believes Cole to be the Dragon but realizes fairly quickly that it is not the infamous pirate. She still believes him to be less than honorable and Cole does little to make her believe otherwise. Eventually she discovers that he is looking for the Dragon and he discovers that she is the key to finding the pirate since Bailey has seen him; albeit the Dragon had a mask on when he set her home afire. For the first half of the book, there is much bickering about deck between these two. Bailey is determinedly stubborn. And I mean stubborn. She insists on being taken back to North Carolina, however Cole, knows that Bailey's life is endangered back in North Carolina. The dragon knows she is still alive. Bailey will listen to none of Cole's warnings and embarks on an ill fated ridiculous mission of escape. Even though she is repeatedly warned of danger she doggedly goes through with an incredibly hair brained scheme. Needless to say she must be rescued from herself. Fortunately, this only happens once and it is after this attempted escape that Cole's relationship changes with Bailey. Cole can be arrogant and he holds many secrets. Bailey is falling for him but is uncertain about his feelings for her. Cole distrusts women and his quest for vengeance is all consuming. Bailey never knows if she is special to Cole or just bait for the Dragon. Their romantic encounters are sensual and believable. Ms. Gray defiantly knows how to write scorching scenes. Bailey matures quickly and I genuinely began to like her when she showed a more grown up attitude. She becomes less reactionary and delves deeply into her emotions concerning Cole. My feelings for this book are mixed. The first half is a bit slow and neither character was likable; Bailey was too irrational and Cole too hard hearted. The second half flows much better with faster paced action and more dialogue. There is much more emotion in the second half of the novel and the characters have more depth. If the book's first half had the heart felt dialogue and the pace and plotting of the second half it would get five stars.

Nicely Surprised,

After reading over one hundred different romance novels a great deal of which include pirate novels. I was nicely surprised at how refreshing this one was. The characters seemed more real than most and this book had me up late at night until the last page was read. I would defintely recommend this book to any who are still questioning if this is a good buy. Trust me, you will enjoy.

Rogue,
This review is from: Rogue (Mass Market Paperback)
After being attacked by a murdering pirate, Bailey Spencer is frightened when she awakens on a ship at sea. Bailey is being held captive by the ship's captain, Cole Leighton. Although Bailey is being held against her will, she finds herself enormously attracted to the seductive captain.
Cole plans to use Bailey in his quest for vengeance. Bailey is his best chance to find the murdering pirate Cole has been stalking for years. Attracted to the bold and courageous beauty, Cole's pursuit of revenge is endangered by his desire for Bailey. Kayla Gray's Rogue is a delight! Romantic, erotic and exciting, Rogue satisfies the senses. The chemistry between Bailey and Cole sizzles! If you adore scorching romance, you can't miss Rogue. Annmarie Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

I was recommended by Lara Adrian another excellent writer to read this book and it did not disappoint.
The story is fast paced and delish in the romance dept and pirates on the high seas makes it even more my cup of tea. I loved the two main characters and how two different people can find common ground. Great job by Kayla Gray can't wait to see when she comes out with another book.

I just recently ran across this book, completely by accident while I was on vacation. Before we left , I had put aside a book to bring....and then proceeded to leave the house without it. We were spending vacation in a VERY small resort town, with only a handful of small boutique-type stores and a Dollar General. I ended up in Dollar General during a rainy day to pick up crayons and coloring books to keep the kids happy, and ran across this book for $1.25.
I didn't have high expectations for this book....I didn't even have mediocre expectations. If you've ever been to a Dollar General, you'll notice that they don't exactly have a stellar selection of books, but I figured for the price, it was worth a read on a rainy day. And I ended up pleasantly surprised! The characters are very believable, and the chemistry between the main characters is HOT. While I agree with another review that this book starts out somewhat slow, it was still interesting enough to keep my interest and make me want to keep reading it. I never expected to find such a good book at such a cheap price. And at a Dollar General, no less. I would highly recommend this book! And I can honestly say it is definitely worth more than the $1.25 I paid for it. I'm not complaining about the cheap price, I'm just saying it is a very good book that I had never expected to find in a dollar store. But I'm really glad I did! It is now one of my favorite books. =)

Okay, but not the best.,

I bought this book with high hopes and I was rather dissappointed. I really didn't like either of the characters, Bailey was kind of annoying and kept changing her mind about things, and Cole was too hard-hearted, he was at times very rude and mean to Bailey but she didn't do anything about it. If a man ever said those kind of things to me I would most likely punch him in the face! (JK!) but this book wasn't a favorite of mine but it was okay. If the characters had different personalities, I would have liked it much more. It was pretty fast paced and I really liked the plot. So...I don't exactly reccommed this book but I didn't like it alot. You can buy it and see for youself. ;p
