Great Mandolin for the price,

I'm learning Mandolin after playing guitar for years, and this Mandolin is great to learn on. It stays in tune fairly well and has good sound quality - both of which are hard to find in such a cheap instrument. I would definitely recommend this to anybody wishing to learn Mandolin.

my new favorite instrument!,

after playing guitar for the past 14 years, i've been branching out. i bought a banjo, which is a cool instrument, but nearly impossible for me to play decently. so i moved on this year to the mandolin. not only is this a great deal, but it's actually a decently made instrument. i have no other mandolins to compare it to, but i've been jamming with friends on it, and it's very loud and clear. i should replace the strings as they are a bit tinny, but i am very pleased with this purchase. if it were to break tomorrow i'd just buy another!

I bought mine through Musicians Friend and it was well packaged (double boxed) with the strings protected from corrosion and the bridge set. I had to lower it but besides that how can you complain? Good beginner instrument.

Incredible,

I received the product in a timely manner which fascinated me. I was a little worried about how it would be when I received it since the instrument didn't come in a case. It was bubble wrapped completely and packed in a bunch of newspapers! I was so excited to get it! It was exactly what I had expected it to be. And the all black body of the instrument makes it so much more pretty to me! I was very pleased!

I've just recently received this mandolin as a gift, and have been enjoying it immensely. It stays in tune very well, its tone is wonderful, and the finish is very simple and attractive. I have no doubt that a drastically more expensive mandolin would sound a little better, but this instrument is an excellent deal, and a joy to own. I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning the instrument.

I've played guitar for over 14 years now, and I wanted to learn a new instrument. I have had this mandolin for about a month now, and I am quite happy with it. I am very picky about my guitars, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered a mandolin at this price. It is well worth the money. When I recieved it, I had to do some minor bridge adjustments for string hieght and intonation, but other than that it was ready to go. The finish on it it excellent. It feels fairly well put together, and has a good sound, although I would highly recommend replacing the factory strings with some better quality ones. It stays in tune OK, but not great. I played it for about 50 minutes today, and I had to tune up 3 strings about 30 minutes into playing. Not so bad for a low end instrument. All in all, it's a great learning tool. I have no doubt that I'll upgrade to a more expensive model at some point. But for this price, this is a great starter mandolin.

I read the reviews before I ordered this mandolin and they were right on. I recieved my order way faster than I expected and even though the outside of pakage took a beating everything inside was safe and sound. I agree that it was just what I expected and I had the picks and a begginers book delivered too. I already shopped around so I knew this was a good value. Even though I was charged shipping for the picks and instruction book I think it was well worth it because it all came right to me.

The list price of $149 would have been way too high, but at under fifty bucks this is a bargain. Nicely finished with a pleasant sound.
Doesn't stay in tune long enough to be used on stage, but as I'm only using it for home recording that's not a problem. If you're looking for a pretty good "starter" mandolin, you can't go wrong with this one.

It is obviously not the best mandolin in the world, but for the money it is almost worth buying two. Out of the box the first thing you will notice is that cosmetically this thing looks awesome. It takes a few minutes to get the strings to stay in tune which is to be expected. I would recommend getting some new strings on it... The ones on it sound a bit tinny.

Received the mandolin very fast. had to adjust the bridge position and tune it up, but 10 minutes later i was plinking away! I have played guitar for 11 years, so i picked up playing pretty quickly the first day. for $50 you can't go wrong with this little mandolin. If you are interested in trying a new instrument, or are looking to expand your axe collection with something different, definitely buy this cheap but sweet toned mandolin.
