i bought this bass about a year ago to learn on and it served its purpose very well. i have since moved up to a higher end bass much better quality and since starting out on this one it makes the new one sound even better. Be aware this is about as cheap of a bass you can get and still get great sound out of it. It hold s a tune great, no issues with anything breaking or chipping or any wiring. this is simply a cheap bass made by a company who knows how to do it right. I am using it right now while deployed to Iraq as my throwaway bass because its simple to take the neck off and fit it into a duffel bag and reattach it when i got here. i will just leave it here for someone else to learn on.

this is a great bass to buy guilt free so you can see if you want to play bass or not and not feel bad if you change your mind and just toss it in the trash. its worth more than its being sold for but not much more. i would recommend it for a first bass any day!

I bought one in very rough shape, used. I just wanted something to use to put down bass lines to practice with.

It was good enough that it got me hooked on playing bass. It took a lot of tweaking, but I got it set up well eventually.

I sanded it down and it is a pure plywood. I stained the top and bottom layers, painted the sides, threw a couple coats of poly on it and use it as a bass to abuse. It is solid, the electronics work and it produces an unexpectedly good sound.

Right now I have it loaned out on long term loan to another guitar player who is also getting into playing it.

If you are curious but don't want to make too big of a commitment, go for it. There may be a little magic in them. Simple as possible, but still functional.

For some reason I prefer this bass to my Fender Jazz bass (worth $1200) and my custom shop fender p bass ($3500 new) It is a cheaply made bass, but if you get a pro set up (costs as much as the bass) it can be a thing of beauty. I am embarrassed to say that the cheap bass for me plays and sound better than the pro instruments that I have. Tone is a product of technique. For some reason this bass is my soul mate and I have had it for about 15yrs now. I cannot expect that you have the same experience and many many reviews will tell you what a piece of crap it is. All I know that it plays great for me and sounds fantastic for my style of playing and that I choose it over my other basses, one of which costs 35x more.
Go figure
