This review is from: The Rogue Stallion (Wildfire) (1990) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A grade school friend gave this movie to me when I was about 11 years old. I was a horse crazy young girl, who had not yet had the privilege of riding lessons. I was thrilled to have any movie related to horses, and I loved this one. Maybe the acting isn't the best, as previously suggested, but it isn't horrible either. At the time, I related well to Anna, the main character. Both of us were horse crazy girls that wanted nothing more than to be able to ride.
That movie drove me to find a way to achieve my goal. I used babysitting money to pay for my own lessons, since my parents couldn't afford it. By 13, I had a job on a farm, and bought my own horse. Since then, I've owned several horses, managed farms, worked for a former Olympic event rider, taught lessons . . .I've learned a LOT! And I have been known to lend this movie to young horse crazy girls. Not one has ever said it was horrible. In fact, they've all really enjoyed it.
I noticed that there didn't seem to be a summary on amazon, so I'll tell you what the movie box says :
Anna Peterson has inheired her father's love of horses and is intrigued by a majestic wild stallion named Wildfire. The story begins when her father dies; young Anna, her mother, and young brother, Mike, leave Australia and return to the family homestead in the beautiful, green countryside of New Zealand. A power-hungry neighbor named Garrett tried to make life miserable for the family and drive them off their land. The conflict deepens when Anna learns that Garrett is bent on destroying Wildfire and she is determined to save the animal. During a disaster, neighbors come to the aid of the family, and all of them pull together in courage and kindness to triumph over prejudice and hate.
All in all, I feel it's worth the few dollars it costs. It's a cute film, with a good moral - treat others with kindness.

I think it's pretty good for young horse crazy girls like I used to be. I rented this from the library so many times when I was young I think I wore the tape out!

My only question is why isn't this available on DVD?
