Great rock "anthem-ic" album for your collection!,

To date, my very favorite Terry Reid release and almost always not far from the CD player. The songs are performed with great precision and clarity, power and sensitivity as appropriate. Terry sings in great form with raw, somewhat shrill passion which bleeds through every groove for the power rockers and soft and pensive for the slower, tempered ballads. Opening with "Ain't No Shadow", an original, ROGUE WAVES is off to a great start with this as baseline. Next is a raw, powerful slow grooving "Baby I Love You" (yes the Andy Kim classic) which propels the recording. Reid and long-time collaborator Lee Miles keep laying it out with a mix throughout. Similar to "Baby" you will find a drop-dead rockin' "Walk Away Renee" with a nicely balancing "And Then I Kissed Her". The original great groove "Bowangi" is a power chord hook rocker that is incredibly memorable though the lyrics seem somewhat mumbly and non-sensical. Terry finishes off with the sensitive "All You Have To Do Is Dream". Key to this is that you must like Terry's vocal stylings - most akin to Robert Plant (and if memory serves me correctly, I think Terry turned down or was unavailable for that Led Zepp role before Robert). Put simply - add this to your collection.

Rogue Wave review,

Very unheralded rocker who's greatest fame was turning down Jimmy Page when asked to join his group Led Zeppelin. Page went out and got Robert Plant. Nice smooth guitar and a great voice that at times is hard to understand, but it sounds great anyway. A little rock, a little funk a little ballad, album has a wide diverse sound to it.

Wow! Phenominal CD. Groovy and energetic. Wish I would have found this guy sooner. Thanks to Rob Zombie for introducing him to me. I might have never discovered Terry if it wasn't for The Devil's Rejects.
