Book Description

By the king's command, Sir Richard Blythe has reluctantly agreed to wed--for that is the only way to regain his birthright. But he never expected to be smitten by the lovely bride who has been forced upon him. To own the heart and soul of Elissa Longbourne, Sir Richard would be willing to forsake all other women; yet he realizes that it will take more than a marriage vow to free the passion he sees simmering in the stubborn beauty's eyes. So the notorious nobleman sets out to tame his willful wife--one slow, luxurious kiss at a time...

Elissa refuses to love her bridegroom, even though he is so maddeningly handsome that he had stolen her breath away upon her very first glance. Richard Blythe is a husband to be feared. Now he holds the key to Elissa's young son's legacy in his powerful hands. Dare a pretty widow trust a rogue such as he with her heart?

4.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!, October 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: A Rogue's Embrace (Restoration Series, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
After hearing many raves as to Ms. Moore's writing talent, I decided to purchase this book. I wish I hadn't been so influenced by the comments of others. This book was so slow going for me that I found myself skipping paragraphs at a time, something I've never done before.

I found the heroine irritating, argumentative, bossy, and razor tongued and lost sympathy for her early on. Its hard to believe that a woman who supposedly lived in that day and age could be so sharp tongued and opinionated - even to the king. While I liked the hero for the most part, he seemed wishy-washy at some points. The weak willed sort who doesn't really seem to stand for anything or stick to any opinion. He would be angry or annoyed at something one moment then in the bat of an eye he would become good-humored again and give in to the heroines whims.

If you really feel you must read this book, do yourself a favor and borrow it from the library first to see if you like it. I wish I had left it on the bookstore shelf.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak Hero, February 3, 2006
This review is from: A Rogue's Embrace (Restoration Series, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
The hero in this novel was weak although very attractive he did not have any dominate qualities. He did not own any land, he was not a strong warrior and there are many times in the book his wife berates him and treats him child like. I was very disappointed

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful..., October 17, 2000

This review is from: A Rogue's Embrace (Restoration Series, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sir Richard Blyth, who lost his family's estate while he was out of the country with the king when the king is exiled, is told by this same king to marry Elissa, whose husband was the person who bought Richard's family estate, as a way to regain his home. Several things are wrong with this book. For starters, Richard was the heir to the family's estate so how could any transaction of sale be legal if it was done without his authority? It was his to sell, not his uncle's. Besides that, as a reward for Richard leaving England with the king and his support, wouldn't you think a king could get his home back? So the king forces Elissa to marry Richard. So now Richard can go home, of sorts. For Richard is not legally the owner nor would any children of his and Elissa become the new heir as she already has a son. Then Richard is forced to sign the marriage agreements moments before the wedding without reading it. It bascially emasculates Richard, gives him 0 dollars and no authority as his wife's advisor or any say so in the running of the estate. Please, the king would not have the ability to overturn that agreement either? Then, it seems that Richard's parents were orgy loving folks. And everyone from his old neighborhood, including Richard, thinks he is evil because of that. And, someone is trying to kill Elissa's son and she tells Richard that she thinks it is!...
