Review

"If you love small-town secrets, mystery, and folk lore you'll love Jan Tilley's latest suspense novel Rogue's Hollow. A fascinating and satisfying yarn penned by a superb author!" Andrew McAleer, best-selling author of the 101 Habits of Highly Successful Novelists and Fatal Deeds.

From the Author

Hello to everyone out there in cyber-land!

Rogue's Hollow is an actual town in Northern Ohio, near Canal Fulton. I loved going there when I was a teenager to hunt for ghosts. The area holds such great memories for me. Even though this fictional novel took a turn to the dark side, it's still a tribute to this town that I adore.

Mid-life career changes are exciting and somewhat terrifying. I am the first to admit that I'm learning as I go. My goal isn't to win a Pulitzer, it's just to tell interesting stories and entertain folks. We all need a release from reality and I hope my books can provide that. I would love to know your thoughts and ideas.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement. I'm blessed to have such phenomenal readers/friends in my corner! Feel free to contact me on twitter @tilleytalk or on Facebook at Jan Tilley & Friends

More About the Author

Jan Tilley was born and raised in northern Ohio. Enticed by the Atlantic Ocean, she later moved to Wilmington, North Carolina and now writes from a cabin nestled in the woods in rural Indiana.

She has held a wide array of jobs throughout the years, including newspaper reporter, veterinary assistant, and Public Information Officer for Emergency Management. But, her most important job has been raising her two daughters, Sara and Brooke. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Kevin since 1985.

Jan wrote her first novel "Coming About" after her oldest daughter went off to college. It began as a purging of emotions but as they always do, the characters came alive and took the story down a totally different path that she never expected.

She was then bitten by the bug and is now admittedly obsessed with writing. Her second novel was a sci-fi endeavor titled "Embody". She was a featured guest on The Kevin Smith Show where she discussed the book in a live two-hour interview to a world-wide audience of over one million people.

"Rogue's Hollow" was her next release which is a suspenseful ride, fictionally based on the like named, spooky town near where she grew up.

Next came "Jasper's Gift", which is the highly anticipated sequel to her first novel. Tilley loved revisiting her pals, Sadie and Rachel. She said it was like going home to visit old friends again.

"I'm Not Listening" is her latest release. Suspense and steamy romance make this a new adult favorite pick.

Tilley is an award-winning author who has been a guest speaker at multiple conferences and events. More than 100,000 copies of her books have been distributed world-wide.

She will continue doing her best to entertain you for as long as you'll welcome her into your lives! If you would like to contact Jan you can reach her at contactjantilley@yahoo.com, follow her on twitter @tilleytalk or at Jan Tilley & Friends on Facebook.

Very enjoyable read. Like the other reviews said - the characters are well drawn and I really liked them and wanted to know what would happen to them. I didn't find it extremely suspenseful - it started out as normal 'folks' and just kept building from there. Next time I'm in Ohio I'll have to go look up this town. I like to reread books and this will be on my 'reread' list.

This book is easy to read, flows well with realistic characters and relative content.I found that I was interested enough to look forward to finding out each night what would happen next.I would not say that it had me on the edge of my seat but was intriguing enough to make me wonder what would happen. While others comment on the ending I found the ending appropriate for the story and the characters entwined within it. Good entertainment without being complicated, gory, or boring.

When I first started reading this book I expected the typical horror story with terror and gore. Instead this is more of a drama with a touch of thrills where the horror is at the edge and doesn't hit you until after the book is finished and there is time to think.
The book is about the relationship between an old man who has lost his family and a youth who's family isn't there. They form a part friendship and part father and son partnership that offers them both hope and a future. The horror is in that it can all be taken away.
There is very little that is supernatural in this novel. There is drug use and some violence but nothing over-the-top. I enjoyed this book. The author spends a lot of time letting the reader get to know the main characters, so by the end I had a lot of emotion invested in the outcome.
This would be a good book to read if your interested in horror but don't like the blood and guts type or supernatural beings interfering. The thrills and chills are there but the strong elements are the drama and relationships.

I was really surprised when I read the reviews for this book. I finished reading it and was stunned at the unpredictable and very flat ending...I did enjoy the characters, especially Malachai (although the author must be quite young to portray him as being so old when in fact he is only "66.") But of all the endings I might've suspected this book just ended...there was no conclusion...I wouldn't waste my time reading it if I were you!

Rogue's Hollow what a good book, I lived in Clinton which is between Rogue's Hollow and Canal Fulton, the book felt so
natural and the places mention brought back a lot of memories of Rogue's Hollow. Jan did an excellent job of putting you
right in the middle of everything and made you want more and more, she has great imagination and the part about "Cry Baby Bridge" showed that imagination. Really enjoyed it and Coming About, I have not read Embody yet but will soon.

The characters came to life while I was reading, and I could picture myself strolling through the old store and wanting to buy one of those magic amuletts. I enjoyed the suspense and the unexpected twists and turns of the plot. To the very end, I was guessing (wrong) and being surprised. Great read!

I couldn't put this book down! Partly because the setting was fairly local and it was a good suspense/mystery/little bit scary book. Great job Jan Tilley! Can't wait for by her. =]
