Really great Bonfa album,

It's been only two years I listen to Bossa Nova music and I always go back to this one. This is a very basic studio recording, clean sound with no reverb, and quite well mastered for this CD edition. The emphasis of the recording is on the impressive "doigté" and virtuosity of this guitar giant, as we can see on the photo cover. I find this album better than "Luiz Bonfa plays Bossa Nova" on Verve which has too much orchestration and arrangments. On "Le roi de la Bossa Nova" it's mostly guitar, voice and some flute and percussion (except Cantiga Da Vida and the 4 bonus tracks). Superbe & délicieux!

I have listened to, and have performed Bossa Nova for 40 years, so far. I bought this CD by chance since I have always dug the music of Luiz Bonfa. Upon listening to this particular CD, I was hooked! This CD is one of the most musical recordings of all time, hands down!! The living definition of, "keep it simple stupid" !!It simply don't get no betta' than this !!!! 101 Stars for Senor Bonfa !!!

When Luiz play solo is an state of art, when he sing or play whit violins and orchestra is a disaster.
