Product Description

Franco Boeri, the proprietor of Roi, is the 3rd generation Boeri to produce excellent olive oil in Badalucco, a tiny mountain hamlet overlooking Genova and its seaside Riviera.

Roi's most prized yield is Boeri's Carte Noire ("Black Label") extra virgin olive oil, made exclusively from the delicate juice of the famed Ligurian Taggiasca olive and produced according to the ancient affiorato ("rising up") technique. In this centuries-old production method, Franco Boeri skims a small amount of the oil that crops to the surface of the oil paste after cold-pressing. The result - a delicate yet rich, sweet and flowery olive oil that bears the coveted D.O.P. appellation of the Riviera Ligure ("Ligurian Riviera"). Annual production is limited to 4,000 bottles, each of which is individually numbered on the black label.

Perfect for extraordinary pestos; excellent drizzled over fresh fish or Minestrone Genovese; delicious tossed over fresh greens and light salads.
