Made of strong, lightweight aluminum, this Rokinon 71 inch monopod can be used for all of your photo and video needs. It features a full 3 way panhead and a foot stand to help you anchor it to the gound.

Customer Reviews

It is sturdy, lightweight, and easy to use.

I will have to think carefully before I order another Rokinon product because one shouldn't have to work on something that is supposed to be new.

Need Velcro bands to hold foot stand which would not open perpendicular to the monopod.

I purchased this item recently and like one of the other reviewers,I immediately noted that the pan and tilt operations were less than smooth.
I was able to correct most of this problem by taking apart the pan head and lubricating it. It isn't as complicated as you would expect. 2 screws, two thumb bolts and an additional little bolt that holds the pan head to the monopod. A Phillips screwdriver was the only tool required.
After disassembly, I coated the contact surfaces with petroleum jelly and put it back together. (lithium grease would probably work better but I didn't have any on hand.)
This little project smoothed things out considerably. I didn't expect professional quality at that price and now it works fine for my handicam.
I also attached one Velcro strip to keep the footrest from flopping when not in use and another positioned to push slightly against the monopod when the footrest is in use to stabilize it a bit better.
This all took about 30 minutes and now I have a monopod I like quite a bit better than the one I received. I will have to think carefully before I order another Rokinon product because one shouldn't have to work on something that is supposed to be new.

My last pet peeve is the quick release head. It works fine, but I can't find anywhere to buy an additional head to purchase switching cameras a bit faster.

I first tried a monopod a year ago when a friend loaned me his radio shack telescoping monopod. It was really great for steadying the camera for long shots and for use with the telephoto lens, which makes the camera almost too heavy for me to hold steady. After searching for the radio shack model and finding I would only be able to order it on-line and pay shipping that was almost as much as the item, I started looking at other makers. The Rokinon had a few more features and with free shipping (Beach camera) came to only a few dollars more. It has a foot piece and a quick release feature that I really like. It does not telescope down quite as small as the radio shack model, but it is easy to carry in its own tote bag (included). It opens to about 6 feet- tall enough for almost any situation! So far I love it and it is much easier to use than the old tripod we had...of course the tripod was good for taking your own photo with the autotimer, but for everyday use at events we are extremely happy with the Rokinon monopod. Would definitely recommend.

I was attempting to disassemble a regular tripod and remove the swivel head to glue onto my current monopod when I had the notion to explore Amazon for a simplier solution..and Vola!! I found this little jem..I have this mounted in my Native Ultimate kayak now so I can take video of paddling trips, fishing trips and the like..with a little rigging done to hold the monopod in place on the kayak...it does the job well.. On land it makes a great walking stick and tripod for a guy with a gimpy right leg. It is well worth the money I paidh for it and gets used alot as I spend a fair amount of time on the water or out in the field..This is NOT some cheap flimsy unit either.. it is well constructed so to me ..its BEST BUY..

The device had one feature I really liked, a foldout foot that folded out and in. It helped make the pod steady. On the other hand, the product was too light for the camera I wanted to use it on and the camera mount was extremely too small to hold a larger camera. The case sent with it was well made. One wishing to use it with a smaller camera would find it useful.

I bought two Rokinon M71 monopods. Both footstands were either slightly bent and/or improperly assembled. It seemed a quality issue. Otherwise, the units were OK and will be a nice addition to my photography equipment.

You get what you pay for. This was cheap, so I'm not feeling burned, but I probably won't be using it with my 6D as I had planned. The little square plate on top is also smaller than industry average so my current plates won't fit, and if that gets lost, I think you're out of luck. Also, it feels a bit flimsy, and I am not confident putting my camera on there. I think the odds are it will hold, but you can flex/move the camera a lot, and that is with no moving parts moving, it is just a plastic head that bends/moves if you put pressure on it. Just imaging the cheapest tripod head in the world on a monopod stand. That is what this is. Again, for $24, I can't complain, but it is more for a light, cheap camera that won't challenge the plastic, or cause tears if it happened to come off. Also the kickstand cant be folded up. In either direction, it will flop to the ground. Wish it had a strap or something to keep it up when desired. I used it to video a live performance, and I was on front row, so had a large range of motion required of me, and I didn't use the head at all. I just clamped it down and swiveled like I would any other monopod. It did help to have it set at an upward angle, but in terms of using this for video, and needing a smooth sweep action, this won't do it. I love Rokinon products (85M 1.4 lens rocks), this one was just not what I should have bought for my needs.
