For the price, this is good wild rice. I think you could get a better grade for a lot more money, but for everyday use, this is wonderful.

I always mix wild rice with other kinds of (brown) rice that take about the same time to cook, so we don't need top quality. For our purposes this is fine. I usually order Roland products when they have a 20 or 25 percent off deal and I would order this rice again on that kind of discount special.

I have had Wild Rice many , many times over the years...fresh from Minnasota or Michigan where its grown and packaged for use like this order was.
Sadly , this was the poorest tasting Wild Rice that I have ever had. There is just no taste to it at all. I do not know why this is...and I notice it states Grade A on the packaging....maybe thats a low grade plain and simple. I cannot suggest this rice to you because I believe they should STOP SELLING this particular product to others. It is that poor tasting. I know I will never buy it again.

I had been searching my local stores for this product since I moved here 5 years ago. No luck, even in the organic stores, unless I wanted to spend an arm and a leg. A special holiday recipe called for wild rice. I ordered this online, and hoped the quality would be as advertised. This product met and exceeded my expectations! The dish came off beautifully and now I know where to get wild rice any time I need it.

All I can say is that this rice is super fine indeed.
It makes everything it is in, much better. I now can safely say that I am thoroughly addicted for life!

This is an excellent wild rice. Wild rice can be hard to find in the grocery stores, especially in the South. I happen to love it, and most of all, I love the price here rather than buying a tiny stale box in a grocery store. It's reasonably fresh, the grains are reasonably whole, and I'm reasonably pleased too!
Some reviewers have complained about some broken grains. I feel that is probably inevitable after shipping, and since I live a long ways from the wild rice fields, I'm going to have to accept the broken grains as part of the deal. There aren't many, it's very much whole grain and "fancy" grade. I'd serve this to guests or my family without worries. We don't generally mix wild rice while cooking, preferring to mix other rices in after cooking them separately so that I don't have to worry about different ratios of cooking time, water, etc. Typically, I use wild rice in a wild rice pilaf or stuffing for poultry. I definitely recommend this brand. |
