5.0 out of 5 stars Pinnacle of Bass Fishing Books
Roland Martin certainly outdid himself this time. I read this book cover to cover and enjoyed every moment of it. Martin's extensive experience in pro bass fishing is put succinctly into words and angler's can truly relate to the situations he describes.

2.0 out of 5 stars Book OK - Kindle Edition Disappointing
This book is an interesting read for those interested in Bass fishing. Roland Martin has some good techniques and his writing skills are OK. Unfortunately for Kindle readers, the book has a lot of pictures which do NOT work well on a Kindle. Therefore, a lot of good information is lost because of Kindle's ability to show pictures.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Greatest Bass Books Ever Written, July 27, 2003

I got a hold of this book when I was still wet behind the ears as far as bass fishing goes. I'm not a huge reader, but I couldn't put this book down. Roland talks about how to be observant and pick a pattern apart, including everything from lure color to presentation speeds. He really reveals it all when he's talking about these patterns. He gives the time of year, water temp, clarity, etc.

I gained a tremendous amount of confidence from reading this, as these are some of the patterns that earned him 9 B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year titles.

I've only been seriously fishing for about a year and there's no telling how many of these patterns I've used. I did skip over the parts on trolling and live bait, as they are not allowed in tournaments.

But an excellent book, as I refer to it over and over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still The Best Guide To Largemouth Bass Fishing Success, July 1, 2001
By
Jim Pankey (Valmeyer, IL USA) - See all my reviews
Roland Martin's book is the best I've ever read, and is still timely today. It's like the Bible of Bassfishing to me. The thumbworn pages of my copy have guided me to fishing success time and again. WARNING: Do not loan this book to a friend. It will disappear.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible of Bass Fishing, July 9, 2003
Roland Martin has always been my favorite bass pro. He exudes a love of the sport and has an unquenchable thirst for fishing knowledge. And he shares it all in this book.

It is packed with the bass patterns that Roland has learned throughout his career. He explains which lure works best under a given situation and why. He covers shallow, heavy cover situations to deep structure, live bait to lures to fly fishing. If you love fishing for bass, buy this book!

This book is everything in one. Every lure he has ever used is talked about in each separate section. From rubber worms to fishing patterns, Roland Martin has it all covered in this book. If you weren't sure about certain sizes of hooks or weights to use then look no further. It is all in this book.

If you want to buy only one book on bass fishing, this is the one. More then 25 years later, this book is still up-to-date. The lures described are still around and catch good bass. Whether you like fishing with heavy tackle, ultra-light or even fly fishing, this book covers it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Education on Bass Fishing, March 11, 2009
By
This review is from: Roland Martin's 101 Bass-Catching Secrets (Paperback)
This is an education on bass fishing.

I find myself returning to this fishing book again and again. You won't find 10 pages on tying knots, neither will you find tricks you'll forget when on the water.

What you will find are 101 solid topics on fishing from a teacher. Roland isn't trying to impress you, he's just teaching you in a well written book how to fish certain situations and certain lures. For example, there are 45 pages on spinnerbaits, and its good reading.

This is the book I reach for when I think about my favorite lake and how I will fish it anew in springtime with new techniques or refined methods.

Purchase the book. Add it to your fishing library.

5.0 out of 5 stars More that I expected, March 9, 2009
This review is from: Roland Martin's 101 Bass-Catching Secrets (Paperback)
I was expecting much less than what i got with this book. I thought it would be more like Bill Dance's 101 bass fishing secrets, but it is written more like a bass fishing encyclopedia. Good buy.
