Good-quality with an intense sweet tart flavor and a rich, dark color,

This review is from: Roland Premium Modena Balsamic Vinegar, 1 gal. 1 qt. 9 fl oz. (5-Liter) Pouch (Grocery)
Our first thought was, "Wow! That's a lot of balsamic vinegar."We then found some glass condiment bottles at a dollar store and shared this with friends.
Before our Amazon purchase, we weren't familiar with the Roland brand. We purchased the Roland Premium Modena Balsamic Vinegar, 5-Liter Pouch along with Roland Sun-Ripened Dried Tomatoes, 2-pound bags (2) and Roland Flat Seasoned Cuttlefish to take advantage of an Amazon sale of Roland products. This is three-leaf quality as rated by AIB (Italian Balsamic Tasters), an independent association of tasters. I searched online to read more about this particular product and here's what I found: "Roland Balsamic Vinegar is a fine aged vinegar from Modena, Italy. The must from the Trebbiano grape is boiled to sterilize and concentrate the sugar which imparts an intense sweet tart flavor and a rich, dark color. It is a sweet and sour vinegar with a heady fragrance. It should be used sparingly because of its distinct character in vinaigrettes and marinades for meat and poultry. Sprinkle over warm and cold vegetables or fruit." In summary, this is a good-quality, fairly-priced balsamic vinegar that stored under proper storage conditions (away from direct heat and light) has at least a three-year shelf life. Enjoy!

I didn't expect a big box, which dispenses too quickly if you only want a splash for salad. If you need to measure larger quantities, fine. We filled a glass cruet with a stopper. The vinegar is delicious!! I still don't know where I am going to put the box - it is kinda big to sit on the counter. Still worth it, though.

For only a little more than 17 cents an ounce, with free shipping, you can not beat this value. It is everything I read three leave quality to be. It smells complex with only a slight vinegar smell. It tastes tangy sweet, then a little sharp, followed by a more complex finish. It's not a syrup, but it is thicker than water or wine. For the price, you can not beat this for most direct eating or in unheated recipes. The price is lower then you can get real balsamic vinegar that only tastes of vinegar in stores. So I would easily cook with this also, as it's cheaper and better. I think I made an excellent decision on trying this product.
