I read this book to my 2nd grade son and kindergarten daughter and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters came through clearly and I liked how Roland learned the values of honesty and honorable competition. We're looking forward to getting the next book in the series. I recommend it.

I bought this book for our school library, and the boys keep asking me when the next one is coming. It isn't high-quality writing, but just a nice, unique, funny boy story that all the boys love!

I still read bedtime stories to my ten year old, even though he is quite certain he is too old for them. We got this one at the library and loved it. There was enough action to keep even a sleepy ten year old enthused and it has a nice pace for reading aloud. We are both "bummed" that we have to wait 10 months for the sequel to find out what happens to Roland.

ROLAND WRIGHT, FUTURE KNIGHT by Tony Davis tells of Roland, who wants to be a knight in armor. The problem is: his dad's a blacksmith and only boys from noble families can dream of becoming a knight. When he becomes involved in a contest to become a page, he faces a daunting opponent in this fine story of competition and winning.
