Sexy but classy.....well put!,
This review is from: Rolando Gomez's Posing Techniques for Glamour Photography (Paperback)
I have read a few of Rolando's books. I have actually shot with a few of his favorite models. Rolando is good...no doubt. The book is well written and offers many points and tips for any photographer interested in Glamour or not. My thing about this book is that I'm not into this type of photography so I think that tainted my review to just 4 stars instead of 5. I just want to be honest!
As I have stated in numerous reviews, the price makes this book worth it. I have hundreds of dollars worth of Amherst Media books and it's for a reason....they make EXCELLENT resource books for WHEN I want ideas or need them. I read them, critique them, implement numerous ideas, and put sticky notes on pages for future reference. Definitely take a look at this book. You WILL like it!

Rolando's latest how-to book unlocks many of the secrets other fine photographers are reluctant to share. Not only does he point out important rules on posing, he explains WHY those rules are important. Once you understand the principles behind posing (as well as cropping, angle, and other important elements) you can expect your work to improve dramatically, even when bending the rules for effect. This book will help you think like an artist - developing an eye for line of the body, S-curves, diagonals, negative space -all important. Rolando wisely pays attention to both the technical and human aspects to photography (your model is not a mannequin, after all) and while some may find his interpersonal tips a bit obvious, they all serve to illustrate that the devil is really in the details. Richly illustrated, as you expect from Rolando Gomez. A great addition to the "Rolando Gomez Trilogy!"

If you are a fan of Rolando Gomez you will definitely like this book. It is a fine book and a compliment to his other titles. The main focus here is with very specific posing guidelines that go beyond the basics. Every body part is covered which helps to make this a very thorough book on the subject, not to mention factors such as body type, composition, and interacting with models to help bring out their best. As usual, the photographs are top notch. Highly recommended, a five star book.

Having Read Rolando other Glamour this book is a very good follow up.
I really like the WHY, behind what you need to do. To often photographers are doing things WRONG and don't understand why. Rolando helps you with the concept. I used one of the techinques with slimming legs with a aspiring model right out of the book. I think of Rolando books as Glamour receipes for the glamour photographer or those wanting to get into. One suggestion show more diversity in skin tones.

This is my first Rolando book. Having finished reading it - I ended wishing he would have done a few things differently. The book is an easy read and has some good information in it. But it was missing photos that would have been more relevant and more indicative of what he was explaining in some of the chapters. In some cases, the photo in the page had little to do with the content of the page.
And, why the constant - Playboy model so & so, American Idol star so & so, what's with all the titles before the model's name. It became annoying after a while. Why not just use the model's name and add a model's credit section to the book. This way you can list all their individual accomplishements.

I love Rolando's work. After reading his other books I decided I need to have every one. All though, you may see some of the same tips and explanations in different books I feal they are important keys and perfect reminders. Not only do his books teach you about lighting and posing they teach you how to work and talk with your subject which I find is most important part when doing fashion and glamour photography. The wisdom that he shares I have put into good use. I have been able to put it towards my own photography business doing portrait, glamour, fashion and wedding photos.

Just like the other 2 books by this author on Glamour Photography, it is well written and illustrated. This book does in in-depth study of posing your model to achieve the best possible results. It goes beyond the basic modeling poses, and explains in precise detail the specifics of posing your model.
This book is a must for every photographer who is involved in photographing people. I would highly recommend this 5 star book.

I found this book extremely helpful. I am new to the model photography genre and have been alittle timid when it comes to directing the models on how to pose..... this book really helps... I jjust concentrate on his writings and pose the model with his suggestions/tips. Rolando really concentrates on getting key factors across..... there is so much to learn but, so getting the key factors down really helps.
