About the Author
Patrick Verriour was born in Devon, England, where he received his early training in drama education with David Kemp and Brian Way at St. Luke's College, Exeter. In addition to acting and directing for adult audiences, he was also a member of a children's theater group taking drama into the schools. Since leaving England he has taught drama in Nigeria and Canada at all classroom levels. Now an associate professor at the University of British Columbia, Patrick has developed four highly successful drama in education courses there. He has given countless workshops on the use of drama across the curriculum, has written extensively on drama and language development as well as on drama in the multilingual and multicultural classroom, and was guest editor of an award winning Drama in Education issue of Theory Into Practice. But, above all, Patrick remains passionately committed to a wider recognition of the role of all the arts in children's and young people's education.
