The role play book contains thirty motivating and stimulating role plays for teachers of English as a Second/Foreign Language. The role plays are based on both realistic and fun situations which will make the language that the students need memorable and meaningful. All of the role plays are guaranteed to interest even the most reluctant speakers in class. The book is aimed at Intermediate to Advanced students who would like to develop their fluency. The role plays are fully photocopiable and contain roles for varying class sizes; large and small. There are instructions at the beginning of the book which are clear and laid out step by step. This is so that the teacher can easily access and prepare the role plays for the class. The instructions also include numerous variations and extensions to the role plays which enhances the materials and allows for varying students' and teachers' needs.

About the Author
Lesley Painter (BA honors, RSA CELTA, DELTA diploma, MA) has been a teacher trainer in New York since 1997. During this time she has trained Cambridge certificate courses and language and teacher development courses for teachers whose first language is not English. She has written many teacher training courses, courses for teachers with younger learners and courses about new trends in teaching. Prior to this, she worked for International House in Poland as a Director of Studies. During this time, she ran in-service training courses for her teachers in the school and workshops for teachers in different locations in Poland and Lithuania. She also helped develop materials for teachers, set up courses and designed courses for the teachers. She also organized the Cambridge Certificate examinations for students of English as a Foreign Language (First Certificate in English, Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English and the Proficiency Examination) Prior to this, she worked for the British Council in Asia. She taught in Hong Kong, South Korea and other Asian countries. During this time, she gained experience writing materials to use in class for both herself and her colleagues. She adapted activities and really began to develop her ideas about methodology when teaching English. Lesley's experience has spanned over many years which means that her knowledge of what students and teachers need is very focused and well directed.

I found this book so much fun for students,

The book has easy to understand instructions for each role play; this means the activities are time-saving on preparation. I used the "Get me On that Flight' role play first and had so much fun with my students; they loved it. I had plenty of opportunity to correct the English I heard and at the same time laughed along with them. A real 'must' for teachers of English as a second/foreign language.
