Simply a MUST HAVE book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Rolex Report: An Unauthorized Reference Book For The Rolex Enthusiast (Paperback)
Over the years, I have purchased DOZENS of books on Rolex, but they simply pale in comparison to the VOLUMES of information contained in "The Rolex Report".This book features a very interesting and beautifully illustrated history of the Rolex watch company. Also included are individual histories of the more popular watches they have released. The section on counterfeits is just amazing, as is the section on parts, prices, "basic operations", glossary of terminology, faq... I could go on and on and on. I have owned the book for only a few weeks, but I have read it cover to cover FIVE TIMES! In my business I travel quite often, and take it with me to read on the plane. It always seems to start a good conversation with the passenger sitting next to me. Last week I was seated next to a gentleman who was reading THE SAME BOOK. For the entire plane ride we talked about Rolex and this fine book. I would like to congratulate the author, John E. Brozek, on a remarkable accomplishment in researching these fine watches. You obviously love your work, and I'm very envious. From a fellow Rolex-aholic I commend you-- WELL DONE!

This book is exactly what I was looking for...,

This review is from: The Rolex Report: An Unauthorized Reference Book For The Rolex Enthusiast (Paperback)
Review: I have been obsessed with Rolex watches for over 15 years, with over 20 in my collection at present. To help educate myself, I have purchased numerous book on the subject, and I can honestly say that The Rolex Report is the best Rolex book I have ever read--I just couldn't put it down. There are many Rolex books (of the coffee table variety), with ... color pictures (and a price to match), but for shear content The Rolex Report is the most informative and gives the most bang for your buck. The book is in paperback, and the illustrations are not in color, but the production value is exceptional, and with the book priced under $, it is more than adequate. This book gives a no-nonsence reference guide approach, with volumes of detailed information on the history of the Rolex Watch Company, Rolex Models, Parts, Pricing, and even an illustrated resource for identifying counterfeit Rolex watches. If you are interested in Rolex watches, then this is a must have book!

This book is great, period. A comprehensive (if somewhat brief) review of Rolexes storied history, this book also includes many easy to use sections on everything from model histories to spotting fakes to the histroy of time itself. This book packs an amazing amount of useful information into a small space. in fact, my only complaint with this book is that some things do not get as much attention as they deserve. But don't let that steer you away, whether you are a Rolex enthusiast or just a casual owner this book will give you a raft of useful and entertaining insights into Rolex, both the company and the watches.included are: Histories of time, Rolex SA, Hans Wilsdorf (founder of Rolex), histories of the major Rolex models, achievements of Rolexes, a great guide to spotting fakes, a guide on how to not get ripped off on line, tons of technical model info, price lists, comprehensive foot notes, reccomended web sites, and fantastic (though not color) photos of watches, tools, movements, buildings et al. Buy it, you won't be sorry!

Very Solid Reference...But Needs Polishing,
By Rolex Fan (U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Rolex Report: An Unauthorized Reference Book For The Rolex Enthusiast (Paperback)
Purchased this book and read it cover-to-cover. Refer to it regularly as well. Solid reference, but all images are in B&W and would be MUCH more effective in color, even if cost would be more. B&W is simply not a good substitute for color when dealing with images of watch dials, watch movements, inscriptions on watches, and comparison's between real and counterfeit Rolexes where the subtleties are important. Book needs editing and polishing. Grammar and syntax is often amateurish, numerous typos, etc. Location of footnotes is rather confusing. Index at back of book is much too sparse, defeating the purpose of an index. Seems like the book needs a good copy editor. Excellent section on [...] what to look out for to avoid scams, replicas, etc. Despite above criticisms, this book is a must-read for anyone who is fascinated by the Rolex brand and mystique, and particularly for those looking to purchase a new or used Rolex online or at a non-Rolex-authorized retailer or pawn shop. In fact, if you don't read this book before you make such purchase, your lack of knowledge probably places you at "serious" risk of being the victim of a scam or counterfeit Rolex. Anyone knowledgeable about Rolexes would instantly agree that counterfeit Rolexes and Rolex-related scams are absolutely rampant at online auction sites like you know which... Accept this advice from someone who's successfully purchased and sold genuine Rolexes and Tudors online for several years "without incident" because of the knowledge acquired from John Brozek's book and a few others. P.S. I don't work for John Brozek and have no connection with the book; thus you can take this review as being objective (albeit somewhat opinionated!)

Can you say the COOLEST Rolex Book ever ?!?!?!?!?!?!,
By A Big Rolex Fan (Hawaii) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Rolex Report: An Unauthorized Reference Book For The Rolex Enthusiast (Paperback)
My wife got me this book last month and I couldn't put it down. I read it straight through. I was very impressed with both the quality of the presentation, as well as with the content. Then I was shocked to discover that Mr. Brozek (the author) actually SELF PUBLISHED this book himself!! The quality is equal to that of a giant publishing house, but without the high price tag. All in all, very impressive! Glossy pages, great illustrations, etc...
I have since contacted Mr. Brozek (his e-mail is listed in the book), and he was nice enough to answer some questions I had about one of my watches. This guy is a walking encyclopedia of Rolex knowledge, and a heck of a nice guy to boot! Unfortunately I made the mistake of bragging about the book to a friend. He borrowed it last week so I'll probably never see it again. LOL !! Oh well, that'll teach me to open my big mouth !! But this is one book I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again. But seriously, this is a wonderful book. If you have any interest in Rolex watches you really should check it out.

Great book, full of valuable information. Expertly written, beautiful presentation, and equally useful for the Rolex novice to the aficionado. Detailed info on movements, parts and counterfeits not found in other books. Good job!

This is the best Rolex book I have ever read!!! It cuts through the [stuff], and gets straight to the point! Tons of valuable information, without all the fluff you find in those OVER PRICED "coffee table" books. The comparison pics of counterfeits are the best I have seen. I can't imagine buying a Rolex without this book!!

You will use this book EVERY DAY !!,

This review is WAY OVERDUE!!
I buy and sell preowned Rolex watches on a daily basis, and I first learned of this book at an NAWCC watch convention here in Pasadena, California. My coleagues consider this the "Rolex Bible" and recommended it to me. I purchased this book over a year ago and I use it all the time. This book is WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD!! It is filled with loads of reference information from movements, bracelets, dials, bezels, crowns, tubes, and MUCH more... The book explaines how to estimate the age of your watch, it explaines the basic features and functions of the various models, and even describes the manufacturing process of Rolex watches. The 100+ pages on identifying counterfeits (and avoiding eBay scams) is worth the price of admission in itself. But the book doesn't stop there. It also includes a rather extensive chronological history of the Rolex Watch Company, and even histories of the more popular watch models with evolutions and changes over the years. This book is unlike anything you have ever seen. It isn't a picture book filled with "fluff". Instead its a real down to earth hardcore reference book that will SAVE YOU MONEY on your first Rolex purchase. I think everyone who is considering to purchase a Rolex should read this book. Basically if you're going to spend $3,000 plus on a wristwatch you should spend a little time to educate yourself on the product. And I couldn't think of a better way to educate yourself on these fine watches. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!!!!!

Got the book last month and read it all the way through the first night.
I learned more about Rolex from this book (in one day) than from 5 years of my own personal research. My wife calls it my "Rolex Bible". No matter how much you "think" you know about Rolex, you'll learn something new from this book. It's a brilliant book that deserves a place on your bookshelf.
