He's the Ace., July 21, 2006
This review is from: Rolf Slotboom's Winning Plays Four DVD Set (DVD)
I never knew much about Rolf Slotboom, but I knew that I needed some No Limit help which is why I took a chance with this four disk set. I got Ed Miller's on limit back in March and loved it. That was significant because this one was made by the exact same production team, and, not surprisingly, is every bit as good. Slotboom lets us know right up front that he is a cash game specialist who doesn't do tournaments so we won't likely see him on ESPN in the near future.
Winning Plays is an attempt on the part of Slotboom to help limit players adjust and succeed in their transition to NL cash ring games. He is careful to point out that the DVDs do not apply to tourneys and that there is already have a gigantic volume of information available concerning them which is, of course, true. But "why NL cash games?" you may want to know. Well, if one goes online (while we still can!) and looks at the difference, in terms of action, between the no limit games and the rock gardenesque limit ones, you will quickly appreciate the need for game diversity--if you ever hope to make a cent that is.
No Limit is a horrifying wakeup for the limit exclusive rounder, and, in these three discs, Slotboom shares insight after insight which will unquestionably ease their adjustment. He also provides a fourth disc in which the lessons are given in reverse; thereby, highlighting the problems the no limiter has crossing over into the actuarial world of limit.
As far as the man himself goes, Slotboom is a fairly young looking guy who's cheesy but in all the right ways. He has the same type of Dutch accent as Marcel Luske and is almost as interesting to listen to. As a NL expert, he is truly inspiring. His advice is very much in harmony with what Miller and Sklansky offer in their awesome June 2006 text, No Limit Hold Em Theory and Practice. I can definitely say this one helped my game, although I expect it to improve further after another 10 viewings. For readers, I'll close with Rolf's own words, "Gude bey, and tayge care."

Excellent No Limit Hold 'em Advice for Intermediate to Advanced Players, June 10, 2009
This review is from: Rolf Slotboom's Winning Plays Four DVD Set (DVD)
Rolf Slotboom provides NLHE Cash Game advice in this four DVD set. The fourth disc is actually geared toward players moving from No Limit to Limit Hold 'em. The concepts discussed are not for beginners. Intermediate and advanced players will benefit from multiple viewings and practice of the concepets. Rolf's voice can be monotone and tough to focus on so viewing the material in short blocks is recommended.

It's GOLD Jerry! GOLD!, July 29, 2010
This review is from: Rolf Slotboom's Winning Plays Four DVD Set (DVD)
I too have the set and found them to be worth ten times their price. I, however, am neither a Limit player making the jump to NLHE nor am I a beginner. For a beginner, this is pretty advanced. However, that being said, I strongly recommend that you buy the set before it goes out of print and the price skyrockets.
As my NLHE experience matured, I have gravitated to the cash games and make more from them now than tournaments. If you have aspirations of being a pro or a semi-pro, do yourself a favor and make this investment. It will pay large dividends eventually.
Tru dat.
