Customer Reviews

Sophisticated comedy it is not, but if you need something goofy-smart, look no further.
Charlie B.
Some comedies suffer from a loose or background plot to make room for the jokes but Roller Town felt tight and fast, the jokes paced perfectly with the story.
Jack Packard
Toward the end, I was prepared not to finish watching it, but I'd watched all but 15 minutes of it.

Just watched the movie 'Roller Town' for the first time last night and can't wait to watch it again. I had never heard of the Canadian comedy troupe, Picnicface, but they are responsible for this gem. The story line takes most of it's cues from the 1979 movie 'Roller Boogie'. In some twisted way, you could say Roller Town is a remake of Roller Boogie! Do yourself a favor and watch the original a few times first. Many of the jokes in Roller Town will be much funnier.
If you appreciate SCTV or 'kids in the hall', you can handle Roller Town. This movie isn't for everybody and it did catch me off guard with some brief gore and sexual explicitness of sorts. But as soon as you decide to roll with this movie and understand that many of the jokes are poking fun at Roller Boogie (1979), you may soon find yourself in stitches.

Finally got around to seeing Roller Town. I love picnicface sketches with all my heart and soul, but i wasn't sure if it would translate to a feature film. Fortunately, I was extremely pleased with the film. It is stupid as hell for sure, and while it walks a tightrope of taste it never really falls off. I am very happy that the shoddy editing, and cheap gaudy effects are intact. The only real disappointment regarding this film is the lack of picnicface members in prominent roles. I was expecting and hoping all of the roles to be played by picnicface members. Still the other actors did great, but some of my favorite people like Kyle are hardly in the film at all. Roller Town as a whole is a very enjoyable film....

Most movies have one or two best parts. With Rollertown all the parts are the best part. Non stop laughs. Best thing to come out of Canada.

OK, it's not a very good movie, but some parts were so dang funny I snorted Pepsi out through my nose. And I rarely really laugh at any of the so-called "comedies" made these days. I thought it was going to be fancy roller skating moves, but this gem is underrated-it's made with a straight face, if they'd been acting like they knew it was a farce, it wouldn't have worked. I'll never look at an ear of corn the same way!

Not bad, not great, but reasonably entertaining, to a point. The plot's thin, but it clearly wasn't meant to be anything but light entertainment. Toward the end, I was prepared not to finish watching it, but I'd watched all but 15 minutes of it. So...I finished watching it, though the end was weak, confused, and blah.

This is your movie! The off color humor and hard to follow scripts make you want to give up on this movie. Follow it through to the end, if you can. Not a great ending but you will always wonder what happened if you don't finish it. You can do it!

i watched it, I am just not sure what I saw. I hope it was a Footloose parody. If not your guess is as good as mine.

Andrew Bush, Mark Little, and the rest of Picnic face really hit the ball out of the Universe on this one. And, someday, they'll find that ball in that alternative universe and hit it again.

The production value of this movie compares against the greats; Movies like Super 8, Super troopers, Super-bad and other Super movies as well.

The roller choreography in this movie is spectacular. It's quite obvious that Mark Little was previously a world champion Olympic skater. That's the only way they could have pulled off a masterpiece of this magnitude.

The filming location used in this film is quite obviously the greatest location in the world. Halifax is well known for such Box Office Smash hits as "the Shipping News" and "Shattered City, the story of the Halifax Explosion." But now, we can forget about Halifax as the city that held the Trans-Atlantic flights during 9-11, and the closest major city to the sinking of the Titanic, and the city that rallied the convoys in World War One and World War Two. From now on Halifax will be known as the filming location of "Roller-Town" and nothing else.

The screening of Roller-Town also explains the decline ticket sales of Anne of Green Gables. Asian tourists, (to Andrew's dismay), who had previously voyaged from Toronto, (probably by super-panda), to Charlottetown, flock away on special panda-powered tour buses. They journey past the booming underwear factories of Truro, Nova Scotia, to see a midnight showing of Roller-Town at the Oxford Theatre on Quinpool Ave; Thus ending the evil rein of LM Montgomery's dictatorship of the northern island. The Right Honorable Sir Prince Edward will be very thankful to have his land back.

It's quite possible that if you don't watch this movie, you will be eaten by a bear.

This movie is bear repellant.
