This review is from: Rolling a Kayak (Paperback)
Wanting to learn kayak rolling. I bought this book to help me better understand the various positions in a roll. Having read the book, I feel I have a better understanding of the various positions one must take to prepare and begin the roll.
The book is big on pictures and little on text. Guidance is simple and to the point. Not a lot of time spent on unnecessary words. The book photographically walks through several different types of rolls. I think those who can learn this type of thing from a book will find it useful.

Ken's book had just what I needed for bringing by roll up to snuff. My formerly bombproof roll in a displacement kayak was inconsistent in the newer boats. Ken's book's "debugging" tips helped me understand what aspects of my form were off and restore effectiveness and confidence. Especially in todays boats you need to lean and twist out much more lean forward. I've got a number of kayak books. This is the best info on rolling anywhere, especially for playboaters and surf kayakers.
My only suggestion would be to put a bit more emphasis on "cocking the wrists in" to the section on "blade dives during sweep". |
