Go With The Virgin Remasters,
This review is from: The Rolling Stones Box Set [Amazon.com Exclusive] (Audio CD)
I agree with the others here. I only bought the Mick Taylor era discs but after comparing them to the Virgin Remasters, it is apparent these remasters are being driven too hard. Go find any Virgin releases still available while they last. I too have owned all prior versions of the Stones catalog and am also tired of rebuying the "remasters" every time the Stones get a new record label. My Lord isnt anything sacred anymore? God bless Mick Taylor.

Poor package, poor box, cheap paper. Buy the albums separately, is better and the price is the same...

The sound on these disks are not as good in most places as the 1994 Virgin releases, but thankfully I waited and bought this boxed set. The song Star Star on Goats Head Soup has not been censored on this copy. That's about the only good thing I can say for the 3rd time I've purchased these CDs since CDs first came out.

The Rolling Stones Box Set- 1970-2005,

This box contains the remastered Stones albums beginning with "Sticky Fingers" in 1970 and ending with "A Bigger Bang" in 2005. Unfortunately, the Stones' masterpiece, "Exile on Main Street" from 1972 is NOT included in this collection because its remastered release will not occur until early 2010. At this point, unless you have a dire need to get this collection now, I would wait until "Exile on Main Street" is released to buy this set.

This is a must for all Stones Fans !
All studio albums on Rolling Stones Records rereleased in remastered stereo in an good looking box with the "lips" trademark and an interesting stones poster based on the "Sticky Fingers" album. The only disapointing feature is the "Exile on Main Street" album is missing (as it has not as yet been remastered at this time) but there is a space in the box for it. Good value & worth purchasing !

This box set was impossible to find anywhere else! It seems a little pricey until you start adding up the costs of each disc. Totally worth it!!

If like me, you already own all of the original Stones albums on vinyl and you just want a good quality CD set, then this is the set for you. This really is a budget box set with no frilly extras. For mere mortals with regular hearing the quality of these remastered CD's sounds great. Each CD is separately packaged in its own jewel case (which I prefer) and not the paper digi-pak case. The packaging is basic, just a cardboard box, with an open face and no guides for the CD cases. It also comes with a cheesy poster (if you like that kind of thing). This 2009 edition comes without Exile on Main Street, and the product description states you have room to fit the missing CD in the box, but the only way I found to do this is by dumping the poster. To be honest they could have forgot about the box and packaged the whole thing in a rubber band and I would have been quite happy. All I wanted was a great high quality sounding CD set, and that's what I got. The only gripe is this is not being sold at a budget price. I managed to pick up this set for $89.99(which is what its worth), but not through Amazon. Now if only they would do a similar budget set for their sixties recordings. The current offering "limited edition Japanese 17 disc set" is an obscene price, but I guess people like to pay extra for pictures and posters, I just want the good quality sounding music, like I got with this set.

Amazon bring the price back down to $136 which what it was orginally and then many of us will buy. Don't understand the price jump.

Please know I was upset when my husband's Rolling Stone Box Set did not arrive for Xmas...even though I had ordered it with sufficient time to arrive by 12/24/10. I tried tracking the set by contacting Fed Ex and USPS. Both of them said they had no idea where the gift was....basically blaming each other. I finally contacted Amazon.com to inform them of this situation. They immediately sent me out another box set at no cost. My husband loves the Stones so the gift was perfect. Thank You Amazon. :-)
