NO MUSIC ???? Terrible, Terrible release,
By A Customer
I can't believe how bad this set is. The entire 5 disc set doesn't contain a single note played or sung by the Rolling Stones. The set also claims to be seven hours and it is less than five. Interviews with the Rolling Stones are few and far between and all come from secondary sources. Most of the footage is reused in every disc and the most annoying thing is the CONSTANT STONES IMITATION BACKGROUND MUSIC THAT PLAYS THE ENTIRE TIME. Many extremely boring and unessential interviews the only one of ANY consequence (barely) is Mick Taylor and he quit the band thrity years ago. All the others are former engineers, back up singers and LOTS and LOTS (and LOTS!) of interviews with biographers, and writers NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD OF! I hate this kind of release, A complete waste of my time and money. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Bonus FOOTAGE are not actual Rolling Stones footage but more boring interviews with has beens trying to remember.

No music at all,

This review is from: The Rolling Stones - Just for the Record (Unauthorized) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is not a music video - it is everything but ... As a documentary film which misses the product of the people whose life it is documenting, it is acceptable. If you want their music, don't buy it.The authors had no rights to the music and had no cooperation from the Rolling Stones and it shows.

Just for die hard fans!,
This DVD-collection contains no music by the stones, no interviews of stones members, only their history illustrated by some footage. The only interesting thing about this is other artists talking about their experiences and feelings about the band we all love so much. But it's hardly worth the price.

Rolling Stones...,

Hey- Don't Know if this DVD Set rates One Star. I've only seen about 40 minutes of the 1st DVD and already I KNOW this is a weak DVD set. Before playing the DVD, the viewer knows something is wrong...when you read on the case-"This DVD is Neither Endorsed Nor Authorized By The Rolling Stones". How can you make a Rolling Stones DVD Set Without Including any of their Music?...!!! All you here is the Same background music. Don't know if I will waste my time by watching the other DVD's. MY Recommendation- find the classic "12 X 5" Rolling Stones Videotape... OR watch a recent DVD by The Doors.

This Stone's Gathered Moss,
By The 5-DVD set is broken down into a history of the Stones by decades beginning with the 60's and ending with the "The Two Thousands." Each disk has chapters and "Bonus Footage." The bonus footage on many disks is a re-hash of the Chapter footage on that disk, under a different name or with more of the same tacked on. There are some great interviews with Bernie Fowler, Dick Taylor, Billy Preston, Mick Taylor, Bo Diddly, Terry Reid, Anita Pallenberg; but other interviews with "personalities" like Penny Arcade who have no connection to the Stones for this fan, are included. I didn't like the fact that there are: No Subtitles. No Language Selection - English language only. The DVD Disables the "TIME" control on DVD players, making it impossible to see how much time is left in the Chapter or DVD. The DVD disables the "INSTANT REPLAY" button. Goodies that should be on this set like some of the Stones' music videos are woefully omitted. Other goodies that would have been nice would have been Still Photos, lyrics, a Discography, photos of Album Covers, weblinks, etc. An interview with Allen Klein would have been great. No Easter Eggs! If your a Stones fan, rent it; if you're thinking of buying - wait until it's on sale.

Good and Bad~,

Yeah, the immitation stones loop that played throughout the set is nuts! Some of the interviews where lame. Mick Taylors insight was very cool. Exile info was cool. What the hell happened to Anita? My Lord! She used to be SOOOOOOOOOO HOT. Overall it had some good insight. Nice that it wasn't just a Jagger Pole Smoking fest like the usual commercial docu-... that has been out there. I'd personally like to see an updated 25X5 released on DVD!!!!!
