Classy and understated, just like the cars,

This review is from: Rolls-Royce and Bentley Collector's Guide (R309ae) (Hardcover)
This book, limited in scope, tells the story of the Rolls-Royces and Bentleys that were series produced from the end of World War II through the end of the Silver Cloud/Bentley R series in the 1960's.
The company had to figure out how to steer its course into the modern world, a world no longer dominated by Britain and no longer studded with chauffeurs and private mechanics. They proceeded cautiously, and in character, and they found considerable success. This volume is understated, clear, readable, and dry. If you like cars, you will not be disappointed by it. It is not a coffee table book, and the cars are not exciting by teenage standards, but you will learn a lot, the the Bentley's and Rollses of the era will take on a new significance for you -- and it will not be lost on you that they present great opportunities for the collector. They have presence, charm, available parts, quality, and (for the time being) reasonable prices.

Interesting and informative about history and actual development of modern (after the Silver Cloud) Rolls-Royce and Bentley automobiles, without being overly technical.
