This review is from: Roman Conquest of Britain Hb (History of Britain) (Hardcover)
"The Roman Conquest of Britain" is one volume in the History of Britain series published by Heinemann Educational Publishers. It starts with Caesar's first raid of Britain in 55 BC and ends with the suppression of Queen Boudicca's revolt in 54 AD. There are many children's books about Roman civilization and its different cultural manifestations whether it be the army, gladiators, engineering or architecture. What makes this book interesting, is that it is narrowly tailored to discuss the conquest of one specific part of the Roman Empire. What keeps this book from receiving five stars are the slap dash illustrations by John James.
