One would think that a book titled 'Roman Gardens' would.... well, contain a little more gardens and a little less interior. I ordered this along with it's companion (Roman Gardens; Villas of the city), they are both currently on the way back from whence they came. Also - very disappointing - a lot of the photographs are out of focus and shot from bad angles. My ten-year-old takes better photographs.

Absolutely horrible photography,

The photographs in this book somehow are so terrible as to transcend the beauty of the subjects and appear simply horrible. The lighting is extraordinarily poor in almost every shot, throwing into shadow the most detailed and interesting aspects of each scene. The camera used captures little of the gorgeousness of these incredible locations and may as well have been my grandmother's tour slides, except my grandmother had an eye for beauty and could have done better.Terribly disappointing! |
