This is a fabulous tale documenting the last days of the fabled city of Atlantis...written by Taylor Caldwell when she was 13, allegedly as a re-incarnated memory, it really is an excellent and intelligent read whether you believe Caldwell or not...it is a real pity it is out of stock...I want a copy -- read it many years ago!!! Please bring it back...oh and for those of you who like a good romance -- it's pretty good too, though not a soppy horrible one, but an intriguing story line too!

This is the 2nd most important book ever written about Atlantis. Janet Taylor Caldwell felt a strong "URGE" to write this story down. She was about 13 at the time. Every one of her books are great reads. But this, her FIRST, is TOPS. Especially in these y2k times when some say many of us here are reincarnated from Atlantis--trying to do 'it' better this time. The first important book on Atlantis is OAHSPE, by Dr. J. Newborough, 1881. These two accounts, written 40 years apart, do not disagree with each other. We need the lessons of Romance in Atlantis NOW. Please Amazon, get the publisher to print 100,000 copies and get them in the hands of potential survivors before the 'last Viking Ship leaves'. (In the story, after the electricity went down, only the 'Vikings' could still control their ships. Everyone else was dying in the heat, without their airconditioning. If millions died this way, over 25,000 years ago--why are there such Egoists now who claim it won't happen to them? Who thinks our race is better than theirs? Or that we deserve yet another chance to make a decent Civilization? For a quick, eery story, read this one. It's only problem is that it's too brief. But that was there lives (or ours?)

This is a romance novel, but with a political intrigue element that will keep male and female interested indeed. The incredible thing about this novel, is that Taylor Caldwell wrote this when she was 12! The book is an entertaining twist of maybe accidential cold war history back in the time of Atlantis. Weapon system disarment, overtaxation and a decadent and lazy culture are all discussed against a young and cold weathered enemy. Sound familiar. This should be published agAIN, JUST BECAUSE IT IS GOOD.

I read this book so many years ago (I'm 46) and yet I've never forgotten it! I just told my daughter who is an avid reader, about this remarkable book and the remarkable woman who wrote it and my 8 year old daughter now wants to read it, too!
I can't believe the price at [$$$]! Doesn't that tell you something? Please get this book BACK IN PRINT. So many would value from its entrancing images, telling words.

The story and characters of a story set in ancient Atlantis is spell binding. I bought a copy
from a second hand store in the 1970s and felt inspired, one dark night, to find it in my over stuffed
book cases to reread it. It was damaged and so I ordered another copy from Amazon Books. I am amazed at how fresh the story is and how it seems prophetic about our
current global struggles compounded by environmental issues of pollution and global warming, fraught, of late,
with many tidal waves, earth quakes and volcanic eruptions etc that disrupt international travel. The book seems
prophetic too about the corrupt practices people are becoming aware of in religious, scientific, political and media institutions. The book shows the materialism and weakness of modern society where welfare hand outs or a lush, sensual, materialistic way of life keep the populace subserviant but also weak with no sense of ethics or morals in their conduct towards others. Taylor Caldwell dreamed of this story with herself as principal character, an Atlantean princess/empress, in a life time lived in Atlantis. During this lifetime
Atlantis supposedly sank into the sea, due to misuse of nuclear power that had fallen into the wrong hands of young, vigorous but dangerous powers.
It is an enthralling read and seems as if channelled and prophetic.

The Romance of Atlantis is to the final days what The Dweller on Two Planets by Phylos the Tibetan is to the earlier days of Atlantis. Facinating that a twelve year old could have such depth of perception and understanding of the complexities of ruling an empire. The parallels to the situation of present day America should be a warning to those who think that their actions do not have repercussions. History does repeat itself if we do not heed the lessons of history. Our elder brothers and sisters of Light, the Ascended Masters, have stated that Taylor Caldwell is 95% accurate in her soul recall of the events she writes about. This is a very high rating and is a tribute to her. Technological advancement without a correspondingly greater soul advancement is a recipe for disaster and this is what we see in the last days of Atlantis. The eyes of the soul of Taylor Caldwell give a window into the past as well a portent for our own future. Karma, the cyclic return of energy, plays no favorites; what you sow you will reap, both the good and the bad. We have re-incarnated in America to see if we can do better. Will we learn the lesson before it is too late? We have one major advantage that the Atlanteans did not have and that is the knowlege and use of the Cosmic Eraser, the Violet Transmuting Flame invoked with the mantra: "I am a being of violet fire, I am the purity God desires".

If you've ever read any of Taylor Caldwell's works, you have likely recognized pure genius. But this book takes the cake. She wrote The Romance of Atlantis at the age of twelve, yet it is amazing in its intuitive sence of a world unimaginable to a child in the early 1910's. Perhaps Caldwell really did live in Atlantis at one time...

I have read most of Taylor Caldwell's books, and this is by far my favorite. Probably because the subject of Atlantis is so intriguing. I just finished my third read of this book and it felt fresh and new again. I never reread fiction, but this book doesn't feel like fiction. What it feels like is an autobiography, and as it turns out, that's what Caldwell believes it was.

Written when Caldwell was only 12 years old, the Romance of Atlantis was sent by Caldwell's father to a publisher friend who said that there was no way a young girl could have written the story and claimed Caldwell must have plagiarized it. Many years after becoming a famous writer, Taylor Caldwell learned of past life regression through a journalist, Jess Stern and soon, with his help, published this remarkable book.

What is amazing about this story is how real everything seems. I see ancient Rome, Greece and our own modern society reflected in Caldwell's story. The main character, the empress Salustra, is so real that at times she's heroic and at others she's a product of her society as much as her degenerate people. When Signar, the Emperor from the far north frozen country comes to take over her kingdom, Salustra falls in love with him even while knowing she must have his put to death. We see the Vikings in Signar's people, a lusty, strong people as wild as their environment yet still able to produce an atom-splitting bomb.

I highly recommend this book. It's one of the most intriguing, thought-provoking, suspense books I've every read.

When I Dream

This book was a shocker in that it was incredibly written by a very young person, who discovered the reason she wrote it many, many years later in life. Her style in unmistakable to her books written many years later, with much greater polish. Very enjoyable.
