This is the 1st in the "Romances" series and is a fabulous, lush CD that shouldn't be missed. The arrangements by Bebu Silvetti are incredible...the crisp rhythm sections of "Inolvidable" and "Mucho Corazon", the smoothness of "La Barca" and "Contigo en la Distancia"...and Luis Miguel sings every song magnificently.

Armando Manzanero's "Te Extraño" is sublime. It will make you weep for a lost love or one that has yet to arrive...It's truly one of the most moving, beautiful songs I've ever heard. It reaches that rare level called perfection. "Te extraño/ cuando camino, cuando lloro, cuando rio/ cuando el sol brilla, cuando hace mucho frío/ porque te siento como algo muy mío".

The booklet is minimal. It does contain lyrics (though not order of play) and the total running time is 44:12. This also comes as part of a 3 disc set, "Todos los Romances". Though maybe not as extraordinary as the 3rd in the series, "Romances", which I would place top 10 in any CD collection, it comes pretty close, and if only for "Te Extraño", this one is a must to buy.

This album is wonderful! I heard the song, "No Se Tu", on the Speechless movie, and HAD to find it! I don't normally buy Spanish albums, but this? This was one you HAVE to have!!!
And YES! MUCHO love has been made to these songs............

"Romance," by Luis Miguel, is a triumph of Latin music. These are romantic songs, accompanied by lush instrumentals, and performed with passion and tenderness by one of Latin music's great contemporary voices.

The CD gets off to a strong and sweet start with "No Me Platiques Mas." Another favorite of mine off this disc is the playful "Mucho Corazon." Luis gives a particularly tender performance on "No se Tu." An essential disc for Luis Miguel fans and for Latin music fans in general, and a nice way to introduce newcomers to Latin music.

This is Luis Miguel's breakthrough into romantic ballads and one of the best cd's you will own. It won't matter if you don't speak spanish because the music transcends language barriers.

Even though it is over ten years old now, the music does not sound dated as the arrangements are timeless.

I discovered Luis Miguel's "Romance" from my girlfriend. I speak very little Spanish, but I must tell you that I love every minute of it! This along with "Segundo Romance" is on high rotation - it will be so for a long time to come.

The CD is full of romantic, passionate "boleros". The production and the musicians are the top of the line. The orchestration is fabulously arranged by Bebu Silvetti. There isn't a weak cut on the whole CD. I'm glad that there's great music coming out of Latin America other than Brazil. Viva Luis!

The poor review of the DVD version was obviously because he expected a DVD Video disk when this is a DVD Audio disk. When you are listening to music on DVD Audio it must be good as you can hear every last detail. An average album in CD can sound fine but all the faults show up in DVD-A. I've heard Romances in DVD-A over and over and it sounds better every time because it is faultless. As his first self produced album Luis wanted it to be true to himself, not false but true and therefore very listenable. And those strings .... lush and gorgeous.

The voice of Luis Miguel is like liquid silver, the saxophone is hot and if you do not speak Espanol - this album will make you want to learn this beautifully romantic language . . . I recommend all three of his Romance cd's . . . a wonderful latin experience!

I have seen Luis Miguel perform in person at Ceasars Palace, LV. He sang the romance songs from his romance album. I immediately bought the cd, including others including this one. I have listened to "Usted" countless times and still consider it one of his best. Months go by and still I have not listened to anyone but Miguel. This is unusual for me. I speak English. I speak only a little Spanish. He has managed to increase my appreciation of life. Wow.

ENGLISH: This is a very good marketing product of Luis Miguel. There are not musical innovations to the excellent songs performed by many different singers before, but the album brought again the Bolero rythm to the popular music. It includes guitar performance of Chamin Correa and retakes the sound of "trio".

"Inolvidable", "Usted" and specially Armando Manzanero's "No sé tú" are super hits. "La Puerta, "Usted", "Cuando Vuelva a tu lado" are very good songs. The title of the song "Te Extraño" is wrong, it must be "Pero te extraño" and the performance has much feeling and is very similar to the original performance of the 60's with José José, but he couldn't surpass the same artist in "No me Platiques Más" and "Contigo en la Distancia".

Anyway, this is a classic of Luis Miguel that confirmed him as a mature versatile singer with the level of the highest singers, and he convince even the people that are not their fans.

Este es un buen producto de marketing de Luis Miguel. No hay innovaciones musicales a las excelentes canciones que fueron interpretadas por muchos cantantes antes, pero el album trajo el bolero a la música popular otra vez. Incluye interpretación en guitarra con Chamín Correa y retoma el sonido del trío.

"Inolvidable", "Usted" y especialmente "No sé tú" de Armando Manzanero son super éxitos. "La Puerta", "Usted", "Cuando Vuelva a tu lado" son muy buenas canciones. El título de la canción "Te Extaño" está equivocada, debe ser "Pero te extraño" y la interpretación tanto sentimiento como la original cantada por José José en los 60's, sin embargo, no pudo Luis Miguel superar a José en "No me Platiques más" y "Contigo en la Distancia".

De todos modos, este es un clásico de Luis Miguel que lo confirmaron como un cantante versátil y maduro con el nivel de los más grandes y que convence hasta a los que no son sus fans.
