5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastico
This is by far one of the best cds that I have listen to in a long time. I grew up listening to this music. All the Romance recordings are great but this is problably my favorite because of I have always considered these some of the most beautiful lyrics ever written. Listen to the words on tracks 1 (it's a two songs medley), track 2 (always a spanish favorite). But...

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring music hides Luis' beautiful passionate voice
The music was really bad. . .it sounded like cocktail party music. After listening to "El Idolo de Mexico," which I was absolutely taken by, I was expecting a moving, passionate Luis Miguel with his rich, beautiful voice, and instead I almost fell asleep to "Romances". Aren't they supposed to be romantic and full of passion? How is someone suppose...

But my favorite is track 4 (La gloria eres tu). This is one of my favorite spanish love songs ever and Luis Miguel does it better than anyone I ever heard. Definitely a song to fall in love by. The whole cd is great the arrangements and orquestration are lush ala Klaus Oggerman. Do yourself a favor and buy it you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romances, October 5, 2001
This review is from: Romances (Audio CD)
What music, what an artist! My husband and I were at the Radisson in Miami, sitting at the bar and waiting for an open table for dinner. I heard this "music" coming from the speakers, it gave me goosebumps! I asked the bartender who it was singing and he said Luis Miguel. Well, I was hooked from then on. It's been 5 yrs. since that night and I've got I believe just about every CD he's made. I find myself singing along to all the songs, learning & speaking a little Spanish too! The songs he sings in Spanish sound so much more romantic than when you hear them in English, at least I think so. The bartender saw how much I loved the CD, he played it again just for me! I think Luis is wonderul and I plan to see him in concert if he ever comes my way. My husband even likes his songs. I personally would rate this 10 Stars if I could!

Fifty minutes of romance (or should I say «Romances» with Luis Miguel is Paradise. A full orchestra accompanying Miguel's glorious vocal stylings is a very classic touch, and each song is drippping with elegance and romance. Savor the Latin passion in "Sabor a Mí." Turn out the lights and feel the romance in "Voy a Apagar la Luz." Relish every minute of this compilation. Sit back, sip some wine, close your eyes as Luis takes you on a handsome ride to Paradise.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Romances with passion, May 15, 2000

This review is from: Romances (Audio CD)
This is indeed a superb follow up to Luis's first and second 'Romances' albums. A much more mellow sounds and lovely melodies from this Latin singer of Boleros. I felt in love with the first track and I was completely lost in the haunting music and lush strings which drifts me into a world of unforgettable moods of romance. It is an album full of love found, lost love and rekindle flames of passion. A performer who knows how to melt your heart and lifts you up with feelings of love. One album I can't do without and Luis Miguel is certainly in my books of all time favourites. A voice with so much passion and sweetness. I fall in love everytime I listen to this album and a must for lovers all over the world.

I was studying abroad when I first heard this CD. I bought it after hearing "Por Debajo de la Mesa" Luis Miguel helped me learn Spanish because of his clear, beautiful voice. I also learned many romantic expressions from him.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for romantics - a perennial classic!, October 16, 2005
This review is from: Romances (Audio CD)
I used to be a romatic guy when I was very young, but then I switched to a more upbeat type of music when I got older (age crisis?) Well, this CD really brought back the old romantic guy I was. If you claim being a romantic one, then this must be in your collection. I love to play it and dance with my wife, even in front of our boys, so they know what true romance is. Perfect for baby-making nights, it will relax you and get all the right senses ready. Yeah!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very, very savvy, June 6, 2001

This is truly an exceptional piece of work. I can see why it was awarded a Grammy. A listener must understand that Luis was one of the primary arrangers of the songs, that is, these are very famous international love songs from a different, more refined time. Each one has been "covered" to relfect Luis' own musical style and interpretation. If you listen carefully or frequently enough, you will hear the subtleties behind each presentation; some are quite delicate in the use of brass or strings, woodwinds, etc. Luis' voice is a classically trained voice and very, very precise. This is an elegant, romantic, and timeless album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lives up to its title...and more..., May 19, 2000
This review is from: Romances (Audio CD)
Luis Miguel is a fantastic bolero who sings with passion on these fine tracks. From my personal favorite "Por Debajo De La Mesa" to the remake of "Bessame Mucho." Luis Miguel threads some classic Spanish language love songs with original songs. The result is an afternoon of albums perfect for snuggling with a loved one and daydreaming. A wonderful album of great romantic songs. Buy this, and you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alma Mia!, March 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Romances (Audio CD)
Luis Miguel is "Everyman" talking to his alma mia. With each song he "Romances" his listener, disclosing his emotion, pulling her to him, caressing her with his voice, telling her that he cannot live without her. Perfect love. The music is wonderful, a MUST have.
