5.0 out of 5 stars Cute and Fabulous, July 7, 2008
This review is from: Romancing Hollywood Nobody (Hollywood Nobody Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
*sigh*

Romancing Hollywood Nobody definitely does live up to par with the other Hollywood Nobodies, and in a way it's better. You could read it alone, but I strongly suggest starting with [book: Hollywood Nobody] and then reading [book: Finding Hollywood Nobody] before [book: Romancing Hollywood Nobody].

In the previous books, [author: Lisa Samson] has told some pretty good lessons in between some fabulous teenage humor. Starting with Scotty as a barely teen and now having her at seventeen is fun to grow with her. This book does have some "Ugh, what an idiot!" moments, but the best part to me, was about half way through, when I was like, "Oh, Wow. That makes sense." Really, it made me think of the times when you are sitting in church and all of the sudden what you are hearing in the sermon just clicks. That is what Lisa did with this story and it was so entertaining to boot!

I got the book in my hands at 3:00pm and took a break when the hubby came home at 6:30, but otherwise read almost straight through until I finished a little before 9:00pm. I think that is what you would call a "page turner" and one that I could just "not put down." I definitely recommend Hollywood Nobody. Even boys will enjoy and benefit from the story. There is no age limit on Hollywood Nobody, it's for all who need a comfy faintly romantic read.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's not to love about being a nobody?, April 30, 2010
This review is from: Romancing Hollywood Nobody (Hollywood Nobody Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
I really adore this series. Scotty is one of the most refreshing and likable YA characters I have ever read. She's just so incredibly mature and responsible for her age yet still can be giddy and excited when she needs to be. Actually she totally could be the spokesperson for the term Young Adult because that's actually what she is.

This book takes Scotty, Charlie and her new found dad into Virginia as they are on location for a new movie which Charlie is working on. As the title says, there's romance in this book but surprisingly the main focus of that subplot does not involve Scotty. While she's still contemplating her feelings about Seth and discovering the new local boy Angus, the spotlight of romance falls to Charlie. Her relationship with actor Anthony Harris was so fun to read. And then there was the little triangle with her former boss director that just made things even more intriguing. It's good to know that romance doesn't have to end when you become older.

Scotty's relationship with Seth takes a dramatic turn in this book. He just went totally wild and really wants to live up to the bad boy Hollywood lifestyle. I couldn't believe how selfish and reckless he was especially when it came to his mother. I was really glad that Scotty put him in his place even though she's younger than him and not in the business. I found it also interesting that because of this Scotty loses interest in her blog about the Hollywood society. I totally understand but at the same time I was a bit sad because I really enjoyed her blog and how she incorporated a real opinion mixed with the gossip.

There's lots of fun stuff in the book like Scotty being able to eat all the cheese she wants and her discovering the small town where the movie is being filmed. Once again, I loved the mixing of real life celebrities with the characters in the book. Samson has really outdone herself with this series. I hope that more people will discover about this Hollywood Nobody and make her a Somebody. HIGHLY recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars What's not to Love?--I'm Just Sayin'!, August 21, 2008
By
This review is from: Romancing Hollywood Nobody (Hollywood Nobody Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
Romancing Hollywood Nobody is a deliciously fun read. Lisa Samson's quirky heroine, Scotty Dawn, had me ROTFLOL on every page. Her satirical tongue rivals Jane Austen's Elizabeth Bennet both in savvy wit and pert opinions. A stylish blogging teen with brains and beauty. What's not to love?--I'm just sayin'!

5.0 out of 5 stars YA, but still a great read., October 29, 2011
My daughter had the first one so I read it then read the second and third without her. Really liked the people they seemed very real. Great story line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Miss the blog but love the book, June 4, 2011
By
I bought this book on my own. After reading and reviewing the first two books in the series I didn't want to miss out on the rest. "Romancing Hollywood Nobody" did not disappoint. I do want to say I was a bit sad at first that Scotty didn't write on her blog as much (I miss her rants/raves on celebs) but it was for a good reason she didn't write.
I love the twists with Scotty finding a guy she likes and even her grandmother falling "in love". I also love that we get to see more of Scotty's dad and hear about his adventures trying to find her mom. Seth is also back and he's in major trouble. Scotty saw that one coming and you hope by the end of the book he will change.
Scotty changes a lot too in this book. She discovers more about who God is and what He wants to do in her life. She prays daily and becomes focused on what God wants her to do. She even meets a missionary and does some heart searching with her.
I think these books are prefect for teens or a good short read for adults. I know I love them.
I can't wait to read the 4th book in this series and I hope they will find her mom in this one. So be on the look out for my review of "Goodbye Hollywood Nobody" coming soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely enjoyable third book in the series., November 28, 2008
This review is from: Romancing Hollywood Nobody (Hollywood Nobody Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
This is one of those series that you don't want to skip a book or read them out of order. If you've read the first two books, you'll be dying to read this one when you finish.

This is an amazing third installment in an awesome series. I am so hooked on Scotty it's not even funny. I love her personality and the things she is learning. She's one of the best YA characters I've gotten to know because she is quirky and there is so much personality to her. Her innocence is pretty sweet, too. I've particularly enjoyed Romancing Hollywood Nobody because there this (duh) romance in the air for several key characters in the series. I don't want to spoil the fun, so I'm not saying any more. But this entire book was very enjoyable. I also loved the whole tension subplot with Scotty and "the Karissa", especially the part where Scotty deals with wanting to protect her friend Seth "Hottie" Haas. She learns a lot about letting go and allowing people to make their own choices and learn from their mistakes. It's a real growing book for Scotty and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

5.0 out of 5 stars To blog or not to blog..., November 25, 2008
This review is from: Romancing Hollywood Nobody (Hollywood Nobody Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
Recently reunited with her dad, Scotty Dawn's life has changed for the better. Scotty, Charley, and Dad take the RV to Asheville, Texas where Charley is working for an impossible director. Star of the film, Scottish actor, Anthony Harris, makes the horrible job worthwhile when he rescues Charley from the director's wrath. Not only is Anthony a hero, he and Charley have been spending a lot of time together.

Charley isn't the only one finding romance. Scotty meets Angus, a young bagpiper whose family runs the campground the RV is parked at. Seth and Karissa are also back together, much to Scotty's chagrin. She blogs about Seth's bad choices on her blog, but a comment from a reader reminds her of the plank in her own eye.

When he hears about Charley's budding romance, Jeremy comes running with intentions of his own. Charley is forced to choose. Scotty's choice is made for her. Angus' family is falling apart, leaving little time for romance. Scotty spends her free time with her dad, brainstorming ways to find her missing mother. She can't seem to write on her blog. The reader was right. Making fun of Hollywood celebrities doesn't feel right anymore, especially when Seth's behavior is beyond reproach.

Lisa Samson has created a marvelous character in Scotty Dawn. She's funny, smart, and is turning into an amazing young woman who's delightful to spend time with. I can't wait for the fourth book.

Highly Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Romancing Hollywood Nobody, July 22, 2008
By
This review is from: Romancing Hollywood Nobody (Hollywood Nobody Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
Warning: PLOT SPOILERS AHEAD
ROMANCING HOLLYWOOD NOBODY is the third book in the Hollywood Nobody series. The series follows Scotty, a teenage girl, as she travels the states with her grandmother, Charley. They move from movie set to movie set where Charley is employed as a food stylist for movies. But this isn't the only peculiarity in Scotty's world. Only recently finding her father, she learns that her mother might still be alive and her father is dedicating himself to finding the truth. Scotty keeps herself busy with her voracious appetite for reading and penning her blog site where she dishes on the Hollywood scene. With her inside advantage, she gives her opinion on everything and everyone that makes up Hollywood. But when challenged that she is nothing more than a gossip and someone who spouts off about people she doesn't even know, she begins to wonder if her blogging is really serving a purpose or just self-satisfying. Obviously from the title, romance makes a strong showing in book three, but not in the way readers of book one and two would imagine.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Hollywood Nobody series. Though it's not really the genre I lean towards, it was entertaining none the less. So entertaining in fact, I quickly checked Lisa's blog site to confirm if there would be a book four. Thankfully it was a yes. Hollywood Nobody is a great Young Adult series, and one that adults will enjoy as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this series!, July 11, 2008
This review is from: Romancing Hollywood Nobody (Hollywood Nobody Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
I got this book in the mail and MADE myself finish the book I was in the middle of before I allowed myself to start Romancing Hollywood Nobody (I thought it was going to kill me to wait!!!)

Boy was this book worth the wait. Scotty is back with Charley, Seth, Dad, Jeremy and some new characters as well (oh yea, the Karissa is back too). Lisa Samson does not disappoint with this series of books - I do think you can read any of them as stand alone books - but why miss out on the charm of the series? Do yourself a favor and start with book #1 and go straight through - you will be captivated by the plot, the writing style, the characters, even the settings. And can I just say that it is an injustice to all fiction fans everywhere to classify this series as young adult - I love them and I'm in my 30's and my mother-in-law loves them and she is in her 60's! Don't deny yourself one of life's pleasures - read these books!

5.0 out of 5 stars 3rd in series another delight, August 1, 2008
This review is from: Romancing Hollywood Nobody (Hollywood Nobody Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
Romancing Hollywood Nobody by Lisa Samson is the third book her YA series starring Scotty Dawn. And Scotty is really growing up, having her father around has helped enormously. Charley, Scotty's grandma, is still working as a movie food preparer, but this time instead of working for independent film maker (and family friend) Jeremy, she's working with a notoriously bad tempered Hollywood bigwig. Charley is pushed to her limits until a handsome Scottish actor sweeps her off of her feet. Scotty is facing some romance of her own with bagpipe-playing Angus. Scotty is trying more and more to the right thing, although that causes her to be a bit nosey on occasion. Her faith is growing too, and that makes her rethink running her blog Hollywood Nobody, which is similar to a rated PG Perez Hilton. After reading about Scotty's realization, I gave up my own addiction to Perez. She's right, the gossip industry has sprung up around rejoicing over other people's sins and troubles. Samson's writing is always a joy to read, especially the dialogue.
