Book Description

WARNING: This book is Rated Double S (Sweaty & Sinful) and contains strong language and sexual content which may cause respectable people to swoon.

He believes in destiny. She just wants to survive it...

At forty, Lady Cecilia Evangeline Stone thinks she has everything a woman could ever want. A title, a fortune, and four children who make her proud. After a marriage of convenience that was anything but convenient, she has no desire to complicate her life by including a man in it again. When her eldest son announces his engagement to a Russian actress in Saint Petersburg, Cecilia sets out to do what any good mother would do: stop the wedding. Unfortunately, destiny has other plans.

Konstantin Alexie Levin never considered himself to be a villain. In fact, he considers himself to be a Russian gentleman. Having grown up in a refined and well-educated family that embraced criminal life to avoid debtor’s prison, the only thing preventing him from knowing happiness is the rest of the world. Everything changes, however, when Konstantin is given a chance to start life anew and travel to London to collect an unexpected reward for saving a man’s life. To his surprise, he is about to become a hero at midnight to a beautiful aristocrat who desperately needs his help. The problem is…he wants to do more than save Lady Stone. He wants to make the woman his, all his.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

To my dearest Reader,
I've never been one to follow a prescribed timeline when it comes to writing a series and Romancing Lady Stone is no exception. While this is a School of Gallantry linked story, its purpose is to deliver an unexpected glimpse into the heart beating behind the school itself while also connecting you to the upcoming world of the Whipping Society. Please note that the secondary love story in this novella will have its own full length book in the upcoming series. So don't panic thinking I left their story untold or things unsaid. If you are new to the School of Gallantry, worry not. Each book, including this novella, stands on its own.
And now the story behind this story.
Romancing Lady Stone is my cheeky version of star-crossed lovers. Whether you believe in destiny or not, people who fall in love meet in the most random of places. I firmly believe I met my own husband because something otherworldly wanted us to. Our homes were cities apart. We went to different universities. There was no internet at the time and we had no social activities or friends in common that would have ever allowed our paths to cross. The fact that I met him on Halloween night was a sure sign of something magical taking place. Seeing it was Halloween night, my husband was also dressed up as a Russian Military Officer. How the hell could I resist? Given the themes I was playing with, I knew I had to make the hero of this book Russian in honor of my husband.
I hope you enjoy getting lost in Russia with Cecilia and learning more about the secrets waltzing behind the walls of the School of Gallantry.
Much love and Happy Reading,
Delilah Marvelle

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT! August 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Romancing Lady Stone . . . oh, yes! Sigh.

Truly an absolute delight!

Perfectly paced, and soooo romantic. The hero and heroine are scrumptious, faults and all. The instant attraction they feel for each other sets the foundation for a delicious, fulfilling story arc, with an, oh so, wonderful finish.

Page after page, I devoured the book, loving the descriptions, the internal dialogue, and the truly realistic characters. Cecilia, the titled lady, mother of four who married for money finds herself robbed and stranded in Russia. Konstantin, former Russian mobster is her unlikely rescuer. The sensual sparks fly in this spicy historical that takes the reader from Russian, to England, and back to Russian again.

If you not had the privilege of reading Ms. Marvelle's work before, you're missing out. Immensely talented, her stories always provide a romping good romance. I didn't want the story to end.

I was provided a copy of this book for an honest review.

Delilah Marvelle does it again! She always finds some elements to add spice to her stories, that set them apart in some way from many other historical romances. Cecelia and Konstantin are wonderful protagonists. Their characters so well drawn, you almost become convinced they must be real people. Their story is something of a roller coaster ride that seems to pull cars from different lines onto one final track, ordained by destiny. Getting to that final track is an exciting ride that takes us on an emotional trip of highs and lows; from tears, fears and joy to a glorious and HOT HEA!

The story moves from Russia during a political and socially unstable time to an increasingly socially uptight England in the midst of the industrial revolution, and on the verge of the Victorian Era. Social stigmas just waiting to attack. Especially when the love story has a titled wealthy woman, 10 years older than her male love interest. I love that Delilah did this role reversal, we have the younger, socially inferior male instead of the usual older, titled male. This lends so much to great elements in the story and sets the story apart from the usual. But then Delilah Marvelle IS something apart from the usual!

A second theme running through the story concerns the founder of the School of Gallantry, Madame de Maitenon and a lost love, which Delilah only uses to tease the reader unmercifully!

I don't want to give anything away. The "Description" provided by the author succinctly provides the major elements of the story. I won't say more about it, BUT YOU HAVE GOT TO READ THE BATH SCENE!!!

I loved the characters, the entire story, and the promise of more to come!

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 1/2 STARS September 16, 2013

I really liked this plot and the older heroine, younger hero was a nice change, as was her existing family situation. I loved the character development. I was very let down by only one thing. The secondary story of the Duc and his aging lady love was left completely unresolved. It was brought up, got a enough attention that it seemed important and then was just swept away never to be heard of again. Tying up the loose ends is important and that didn't happen here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deliciously Sensual September 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This offering of Romancing Lady Stone, in the School of Gallentry Series, is a standalone novella but the writing is so lyrical and the romance is so full of delicious sensuality that I will have to read this series which has three books already published. Ms Marvelle can infuse characters with personality and the story with exquisite romance. Cecilia is an older woman (40) who becomes romantically involved with a younger (30) man. How refreshing! Neither apologizes or thinks twice about the age difference. Again, how refreshing! They do know that their union will not be accepted in Cecilia's London society because Cecilia is an aristocrat and Konstantin is from a lower class. How a happily ever after is achieved is what kept me turning pages. Another romance is introduced and we are promised by Ms Marvelle that we will see more. I highly recommend this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very believeable October 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
People in 'historical fiction' should act like people in the era when the book is set. This book failed at this basic expectation. As hard as it seems to be for some authors to realize, people didn't always act the way they do today. Respectable19th century matrons who have been celibate for 7 years aren't likely to respond to being drugged and kidnapped by seducing their rescuers, no matter how charming his...uh...assets. Teenaged girls of the era aren't likely to be thrilled at the idea of their mother having taken a lover she knew for less than 12 hours, much less volunteer to become social outcasts so their mother can be romantically fulfilled. This is a family that apparently has so few connections to friends and extended family that just defying social standards and moving out of the country is the obviously solution to mama's affair. The author is short on historical details, such as Russian naming conventions. One character's story is alluded to, but then the last time we see him, he does something so totally unpredictable and inexplicable, something that serves no purpose in advancing the story, that it just boggles the mind. This novella makes a poor introduction to the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars finally a book whose heroine is a mature woman
Thank God someone occasionally writes a good romance whose heroine isn't practically a child. The whole "virgin blood/maidenhead pain" theme is trying at best. Read more
