5.0 out of 5 stars Such a fun book!, April 3, 2006
This review is from: Romancing The Stars: 52 Celebrity-Inspired Romantic Insights, Ideas and Illustrations) (Paperback)
Any fan of pop culture will want this book in their collection. Our society is so interested in "celebrity" these days, but unfortunately, much of that comes in the form of gossip and tabloid. Thank goodness this book is different. It's fun and uplifting, and gets to the "heart" of each character or star, and what we love about them. My favorite "showcases" were of George Costanza and Lance Armstrong.

Aysel has a wonderful sense of humor and an insight into how to connect not just in a romantic sense but with friends and family that I found enlightening, humorous and hopefully helpful. I think we all can take the people closest to us for granted and in reading this I found more than just a few "a ha" moments that I will use in the future. This is a fun quick read that everyone can enjoy.

If you have felt disillusioned about love lately I suggest you pick up Aysel Arwen's new release ROMANCING THE STARS. Ms. Arwen, the self-proclaimed Ms. Romance will lead you on your way to finding a fresh new approach and way of looking at romance. Being a romantic doesn't just mean the love you feel towards your lover or spouse, but according to Ms. Romance is also the love you feel towards anyone important to your life. Using well-known celebrity icons to teach the lessons of love, this book takes you on an amusing tour of what to do and not to do to enhance your love life.

Sex is not touched on in this book and the topics are light and unobtrusive. While you "hear" the author's voice, you don't feel preached to. Instead, you feel as if a kind friend is speaking to you in your ear, and making you smile.

After reading this book, you'll feel uplifted and inspired by this gentle guide to a better way to love. You've also get to know Aysel Arwen, who is not afraid to let her personality shine through in this fun and enjoyable read.

This book is incredible! The author has truly re-defined romance by looking into the starry-eyed..... celebrities! This is a fun read that can be read over and over and over again! You'll want to share it with your friends and then you'll want to discuss their thoughts. Put down the Us Weekly and read about celebrities in a different way. You'll close this book knowing you got something out of it! Have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Romp Of A Read!, July 3, 2006
This review is from: Romancing The Stars: 52 Celebrity-Inspired Romantic Insights, Ideas and Illustrations) (Paperback)
I'll admit it...I'm addicted to the "stars." But Miss Arwen's delightful book is far and away the most optimistic and heart-warming account of them I've ever read.

This refreshing spin on their lives, loves and characteristics is further enhanced by the wonderful caricatures of each star. From Larry the Cable Guy, Tim McGraw, Jennifer Aniston and Ellen, Ms. Arwen highlights not only what we perceive about them, but the true reason we find them so fascinating. Bravo Miss Arwen! Your delightful wit and comforting voice reminded me of reading a letter from a friend...you made me laugh, believe and at times stop and wonder if I had my life's priorities in the right place.

Think she couldn't have possibly done all this with an amusing book about Hollywood stars? Think again. A truly wonderful read I will certainly be picking up from time to time when I need to smile!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Delightful Read!, August 29, 2006
This review is from: Romancing The Stars: 52 Celebrity-Inspired Romantic Insights, Ideas and Illustrations) (Paperback)
Ms. Arwen will captivate your imagination in Romancing the Stars. It was a delightful and thought provoking look into people's actions and why they behave the way they do. She used celebrities most of us are quite familiar with. While you may not agree with the assessment of each and every person selected or may not like a particular celebrity, you will be intrigued with Ms. Arwen's possible insight into their behavior. You will see yourself many times over in this book and will find yourself chuckling aloud at many of her comments.

The story that impacted me most was the tribute to Peter Jennings. I thought that perfect!

Congratulations, Ms. Arwen, on a job well done!!!

This is a fun and entertaining look at "Love" from the perspective of some of today's hippest Hollywood hitters. With humor and insight Ms. Arwen delves into the serious issue of romance and love with understanding and a wee bit of comic relief.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful and Entertaining!, May 20, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Romancing The Stars: 52 Celebrity-Inspired Romantic Insights, Ideas and Illustrations) (Paperback)
Romancing the Stars is both insightful and entertaining. Aysel Arwen writes 52 (53, actually) vignettes on love, companionship, and relationships based on Hollywood characters. And Maxine. (Don't we all love Maxine?)

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Because of the delightful illustrations by Bruce Wade and the oftentimes humorous yet wise essays by Ms. Arwen, this book makes a great coffee table book, or an ideal bridal shower gift.

My last comment is on the quality of writing. Ms. Arwen's talent shines through in each chapter and I highly recommend Romancing the Stars!
