As a state, Romania has only been in existence since 1859, but the history of its people stretches to the late Bronze Age and early Iron Age, to the Geto-Dacians and Romans. This concise history tells the fascinating story of the evolution of the Romanian people, the creation of the Romanian Principalities, their struggle against empire-building powers, and their eventual unification to form the state of Romania.
About the Author
The American author, Nicolae (Nick) Klepper, was born in Bucharest, Romania. At the age of 12, he and his parents moved to America, where they settled in New York City.
After obtaining Engineering and Business degrees at the University of Denver, Nicolae decided to devote his career to international business. As a corporate executive, he worked and lived for many years in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
His lifelong interest in cookery and the desire to make his native country better known to the world led to his first book, Taste of Romania: Its Cookery and Glimpses of Its History, Folklore, Art, Literature and Poetry. It was published by Hippocrene Books, New York, in 1997 in a hard cover format. A second edition was published in 1999, and a fourth printing of the expanded edition came out in 2008. The book has now been released in paperback.
Romania: an Illustrated History, his second book, was published by Hippocrene Books in 2002, and is in its third printing. It is also being published in China.
Mr. Klepper's many years of international corporate experience has helped inform his newly published work, a gripping psychological suspense novel titled The Geneva Affair.
Nicolae resides in Edinburgh, Scotland with his Scottish wife, Ann. He has three sons, one daughter, and four grandchildren, living in different parts of the world.
He is a member of the Society of Authors and the Edinburgh Writers Club.
