I picked up this collection of excellent music from Sweden's X5 Group at the outstanding "Daily Deal" bargain price on February 12, 2012. I have been very pleased with the quality of the music and the recordings -- this is a no-brainer at the bargain price, and highly recommended.

The main problem comes up if you want to know what you're listening to. Usually, X5 has fairly good tags on its MP3 files, and you can see the composers clearly once you download the MP3s and play them in your favorite player.

Not this time. With only a handful of exceptions, X5 has left composer data blank here (and even there, they included some errors -- thanks to Martin Pettet's comments on spotting some of those). I did some digging, and I believe the following list should be fairly reliable:

1. Tchaikovsky - Serenade for Strings Op. 48: III. Elegia - St. Petersburg New Philharmonia and Alexander Titov
2. Prokofiev - Romeo and Juliet, Op. 64 - Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra
3. Bizet - L'Arlésienne, Op. 23, Suite No. 1: Adagietto, Adagio - RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and Marko Munih
4. Elgar - Serenade in E Minor for String Orchestra, Op. 20: III. Allegretto - Hermitage Museum Orchestra and Pavel Bubelnikov
5. Rimsky-Korsakov - Sadko: Aria (The Song of the Indian Merchant) - Zurab Sotkilava, Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra and Gennady Rozhdestvensky
6. Ravel - Piano Concerto in G Major, M. 83: II. Adagio assai - Dubravka Tomsic, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and Anton Nanut
7. Liszt - Nocturne No. 3, Liebestraum, Op. 62 - Kveta Novotná
8. Joseph Küffner* - Grand Trio Concertante, Op. 45: Romance Artaria Trio
9. Rimsky-Korsakov - Scheherazade, Op.

Like my Fur Elise and and Nocturne, it's lovely to hear over and over again! Will probably look at others like this in the future.

Beautiful! Well worth the background for this day. It is also our anniversary and, after 19 years, so very appropriate.
