From Booklist

Being single is tough enough without constantly being asked, "When are you getting married?" Julie Burns, a 32-year-old Hollywood entertainment attorney weary of being asked about her marital status and informed of the dismal statistical reality regarding the matrimonial chances for a single woman of her age, decides to put more effort into her search for a decent man. She is willing to try just about everything, except giving up her standards (for more than one date). The results are disastrous and hilarious. Urged by her friends, she gives a schlemiel she meets on an airplane a chance as well as trying dating services, blind dates, and speed dating. How can a cute, intelligent woman with a great career fail to meet the man of her dreams? Her friends claim she is just too picky, but Julie is just looking for a man with a future. Orsoff's screwball comedy about modern dating Hollywood-style is a surefire winner. Forget Bridget Jones and become engrossed in Julie's follies with men and struggles with her persistent Jewish mother. Patty Engelmann

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, April 25, 2006
By
This review is from: Romantically Challenged (Paperback)
I love chick lit, but unfortunately there is a lot of garbage out there.

This book, however, is not the case. From the original title, right down to the storyline, everything about this book is great.

Our main character, a lawyer who is still trying to forgot about "scumbag" is throwing herself back into the dating pool.

This book basically describes all of her wonderful and oh not so wonderful experiences.

While some of the coincidences are a little much (she happens to keep bumping into the same bartender and the same doctor -yeah right!) but still, the writing is fun and breezy and I really liked all of the characters - right down to the requisite pesky parents.

Very funny, uplifting chick lit.

BUY IT.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who knew finding Mr. Right could be such a challenge..., October 12, 2006
By
This review is from: Romantically Challenged (Paperback)
Perennial single 30-something lawyer Julie has not had a decent relationship since her fiance ran off with a starlet. Constantly harassed by her family and well meaning friends to get back into the dating pool and get married to a nice Jewish boy already, she determines that finding Mr. Right is just a numbers game, and if she goes on enough dates, she will find her future husband. It's all in the math. Let the dating games begin...

Blind dates set up by well meaning friends, impromptu dates with casual acquaintances, and even a dating service result in some pretty hysterical dating disasters that even result in her becoming tabloid fodder. From cheapskates to mommy's boys... from wanna-be actors to closeted gays - she manages to date them all. Despite Julie being funny, she is definitely her own worst enemy, and doesn't realize that sometimes the person you least expect might be your perfect match after all.

Orsoff's hilarious riff on dating in the new millennium is funny from cover to cover, particularly protagonist Julie's inner thoughts. A great read that would have been first rate with a meatier ending!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book that just ended..., May 4, 2006
This review is from: Romantically Challenged (Paperback)
The book cover and its title are what drew me to this book. I started reading it at Border's and ended up checking it out at the library. It was a good book that told about a 30-something woman and her trials with dating. I couldn't put it down and was surprised when I turned the page to continue reading and it just ended. That's it? I didn't expect it to end the way it did. I hope the author will follow-up with a sequel.
