4.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to Dispute, February 1, 2011

This review is from: Romantico (Audio CD)
While it would be fruitless to dispute the writer's claim that La Voz Sensual and Buscando Amor are Cheo's best albums ever, I would not necessary overlook his more rhythmic recordings and in fact would place a few others atop the same mantle. Take for example, "With a Little Help From My Friends" which not only has memorable dance tunes but equally great boleros. Or you might wish to hear "Cheo" or Estampas, Sentimientos Tu, Profundo and of course, "Vieje Final" on Los Feelings de Cheo, a song that leaves me smiling and yet saddened by the eventual loss of a Latin artist whom I have come to love and enjoy over the years. If you really want to know this artist and his work, you have to reach back to his earlier recording with Eddie Palmieri and the Joe Cuba Sextet. Here you will be able to hear and chart all of the various forms of Latin Music he has covered in his 40 plus year career. He truly is a very special artist his stamp you can hear in Ruben Blades and many other artists around today. I suppose like Tito Rodriguez, he will leave an indelible mark in the Bolero genre and in Latin/Cuban Music.

This is a nice collection of Cheo's bolero recordings. Like Tito Rodriguez, Cheo Feliciano is equally good as a bolero singer and as a salsa sonero. While you will probably love this CD, I highly recommend your getting his 1972 and 1974 Fania releases "La Voz Sensual De Cheo" and "Looking For Love (Buscando Amor)" as both are excellent bolero albums and are Cheo's best two albums ever.
