Book Description

Open Road's Rome Made Easy April 26, 2005
Like Open Road's series of foreign language menu-readers, our new compact lightweight travel guides are for those travelers who already know where they're staying and don't want to lug around a huge book during the day. With a sprinkling of restaurant selections, our Europe Made Easy series focuses on taking readers to the best, as well as the most different and unusual, sights and walking tours. Tuck this guide into your pocket and head out for a great day of sightseeing in the Eternal City: you'll have over 100 sights at your fingertips, from the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museums to the Roman and Imperial Forums, to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum. Features insider tips on hip cafes, sidebars on great places to eat and shop, fun outdoor markets, and beautiful walks highlighting both ancient and modern Rome. Bonus excursion info on the Tivoli Gardens and the small medieval town of Frascati. Attractive design features a second color on the inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent compact guide, June 8, 2005
This review is from: Rome Made Easy, 1st Ed. (Open Road's Rome Made Easy) (Paperback)
Had I only had this guide for my last trip to Rome. Instead of lugging around bulky Frommers or Fodors, I would have loved Rome Made Easy, a distillation of the city into a compact, highly portable guide. Morris, a veteran guidebook writer, gets to the heart of the city, hitting the essentials without skimping on details. This is the book you'll carry (inconspicuously in a pocket or purse) on your next trip to the wonderful city of Rome.

1.0 out of 5 stars review of rome made easy, January 3, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rome Made Easy, 1st Ed. (Open Road's Rome Made Easy) (Paperback)
On a tour of Rome with a group (church choir) I found this book to be useless. Unlike my other two Rome guides (eyewitness travel--nice pictures but heavy to carry, and rick steve's-- the one I used most), it did not do a good job of describing places, in my opinion. If it had not been so small I would have left it in rome, but brought it back and gave it to the local library where they sell used books and magazines as a fund-raiser. Perhaps if I had been on my own the suggested walks, etc would have been useful.
