Okay, well I don't know what guide the other person bought, but this is a waste of paper. I know what a stable does, I can get all that from the game. The number of hints or what to do (a GUIDE?) was so limited, it would fit on one page typed. Do not waste your money, go to a Total War web site instead.

I never played video games until I was sixty years old. I only have four games. One is Rome: Total War. When I started to play the game, I went through the Tutorial several times. At some point I decided to try a Short Campaign. It was then that I realized that I needed more information or I would not be able to take advantage of all the features the game has to offer. You have to know what each unit is capable of or you will start losing battles. I use the book as a quick reference, for example, when hiring Mercenaries or recruiting new Roman troops. The units Special Abilities are very important. I once arrived at a battle and realized the Ram Unit I had was not capable of knocking down the main gate and I did not have a unit that could Sap the walls, so I was stuck outside the City. Luckily the units that arrived as reinforcements had a unit that was able to breach the walls. To sum it up the book makes the game more interesting and makes you a better player. I purchased mine for less then nine bucks including shipping. Do yourself a favor and get the book.

This item arrived in excellent condition. Bought as a gift for my son-in-law. He has found it helpful!

Never had to use this guide but like to have them on hand just in case.

I don't actually own this. The picture is the same for the Barbarian invasion game and i got confused.
