4.0 out of 5 stars For The Racing Enthusiast, March 8, 2011

This review is from: Alfa Romeo (Ballantine's illustrated history of the car. Marque book no. 2) (Paperback)
I would recommend this book for persons keenly interested in a detailed account of Alfa Romeo's racing history. And I mean detailed. British author Peter Hull is a genuine expert on the subject, his knowledge encyclopedic. Furthermore, there are many terrific, historical photographs included that are probably worth the price of the book alone. If you are looking to learn something of Alfa's production cars in this volume, forget it, there's not much there. Furthermore, the book ends in 1970 with the introduction of the Montreal, so there is a large forty-year gap to the present day. Therefore, how much you enjoy this book depends on what you're looking for. If it's an account of Alfa Romeo's glorious racing past - buy it. If you want to know more about production cars, I'd recommend "Alfa Romeo: Icon of Style" by Alessandro Sannia. If you want the very best of both worlds, try Maurizio Tabucchi's excellent "Alfa Romeo from 1910 to 2010" (Giorgio Nada Editore).
