4.0 out of 5 stars good, but partly due to lack of alternatives, September 20, 2010
This review is from: Alfa Romeo Giulia Coupe GT and GTA (Car & Motorcycle Marque/Model) (Hardcover)
the tipo 105 alfa coupes are among the most definitive and iconic alfas, not to mention one of the prettiest cars ever to enter production. it's thus especially surprising that there aren't that many books in english written about them. this is the easiest one to come by and it's pretty good. however, the author isn't terribly attentive to detail as some of the others published by veloce (the publisher). for instance, the chapter on the giulia coupes' development is adequate, but by no means detailed or comprehensive. it's quite short and while it has a bit on the evolution of the models over the years, you're not likely going to learn too much more than from wikipedia. much of the rest of the book is dominated by the cars' racing history and discussion about ownership. what would've been nice is a long and detailed discussion on the development and evolution of the car, detailing the different models and specs, both in the various european markets and the us. overall, however, the book does contain quite a lot of wonderful photos, and account of the author's personal interview with the old autodelta people is quite a good read. so until someone else comes along and writes a more definitive and detailed tome on one of my favorite alfas, this is the book to get...if you can, as it seems to be out of print for now
