Burned off the wax and seasoned this thing up, the next morning I mixed up the Belgian waffle mix that came with the package and started turning out perfect waffles. Some tips, do not oil the waffle maker with spray it causes the waffles to not crisp up correctly, if you have the thing seasoned you do not need it as most recipes include some oil or butter in them that's more than enough. Also I suggest flipping the unit one time right after you close it to make the waffle fill out completely, then cook for about 1 to 1 1/2 mins per side . First test runs have been at home can't wait to get this thing out camping!

We took the time to clean then season this waffle iron. The first waffle wasn't very good but with a little addition oil this waffle iron produced waffles as nice as anything I can make in my expensive electric iron I use at home. I use it on a gas camp stove. Yes, we can eat them faster than I can cook them but that way they are hot and fresh!

I seasoned it well and am sure to include fat or binding substances in the batter - never oil the pan before or between waffles and I have gotten consistent great waffles on the regular. Only downfall is that its difficult to pour batter in and hold it open - as it doesn't stay partially open. I rest the long handle on my head and balance it -- and frankly that's weird.

This waffle iron not only makes yummy waffles, it is fun to use. The only problem with our is the hook for it keeps sliding down and iron will open too easily when being lifted. It takes too long to make enough waffles for our family of 6. We have burnt up a few waffles trying to get used to it. But all in all we are happy with the purchase.

After a very tedious seasoning process, the waffle maker was perfect! It is very easy to use on a camp stove and yields perfectly sized waffles.

I LOVE IT! My kids love it! and my husband love it! This is the REAL DEAL!!! For first time users, this Waffle Iron NEED to be seasoned! What I did was first wash it off with hot water to remove the paraffin wax. DO NOT cook with the wax on!!! after that we removed the handles and put both pans into the oven, bake it at 350 degree for an hour. I did it at night, so when I opened the oven in the morning, it's cooled! then wash it again with warm water and soap…and TADAaa!!! It's ready to go! It made beautiful waffles!!! Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside!

I received this waffle maker today in the Mail. I boiled the waffle plates then ran them under cold water to see the wax that was left. I used a scouring pad to scratch off the wax and dipped them in boiling water again and repeated the process until all the wax wAs off. I decided to wait until after I got back from the store to season it, not a good idea the plates had already started to rust. I boiled the plates again dried them, put canola oil all over, took the handles off, and baked them in the oven at 350 for one hour. After the waffle iron cooled I heated them on my gas stove. Next, I Sprayed them with nonstick spray and added the waffle mix. I Cooked the waffle for 1minute on each side the waffles were delicious. I'm glad I made this purchase and will be using it when we camp this Friday.
