These are some of the best pie irons made. By being round, they completely seal the bread and make great campfire pies. The cast iron pie irons are MUCH better than the cheap aluminum ones you get at W*. Once they get hot, it doesn't take long for the next pie to be done. Plus, if you season it well and take care of it, the cast iron is much easier to maintain than aluminum.

All of our friends have these - so we had to get some. We use them for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert - while camping and at home in the fire pit. Our breakfasts can't be beat - bread or muffin, with cheese, green salsa, and a fresh egg from one of our chickens! Yum! Our friends recommended the round pie irons over the square ones, since they seem to seal better.

We bought these to take camping and have used them to make mini pies (two pieces of buttered bread with pie filling in the middle), but the hamburgers that we made in this were the BEST ones that we have ever had. A little crisp on the outside and SO juicy inside. One of our favorite camping purchases! Thankfully we bought several of them!

This product is poorly made. Nothing like the Rome Pie Iron's from the 70's of which I am still using. My biggest concern is that the casting is no longer a solid casting that encompasses the hinge. the hinge is made of pieces that are assembled. The entire pie iron is a cheaply made item.

If you're looking for a pie iron that is similarly priced and made of one piece castings look at the Camp Chef Single Round Cooking Iron - True Seasoned Cast Iron which is sold by Amazon Prime at a similar price. Each half is made of one solid heavy casting which includes the hinge. Same as the one I purchased 40 years ago. The handle is also very robust. This one is also twice as deep as the Rome Pie Iron. It will hold a lot more filling. I highly recommend this pie iron over the cheaply made Rome product.

Went camping a few weeks ago and brought these along. I made cherry pies with milk and honey white bread, liquid spray butter and light cherry pie filling. They were a big hit. The pie irons are good quality and I like that the are easily separated for easy cleanup.

After contacting Rome Industries I was informed that the product was cast in China. Reluctantly I purchased the product based on the history and reviews of the business. The item arrived and I seasoned the iron on the fire accordingly. The next day we camped and my two year old picked up the iron and handed it to me. He dropped it on the ground....no more pie iron. The tip of the iron broke and Didn't use it once. Made in China...that is all I have to say.

We made sure to season the irons really well before we used them, and they worked like a breeze. They are very easy to clean up - just a wet rag. I'm really glad we got the round vice square ones. I used the plain old Sunbeam Square Loaf White Bread, and it works well. Happy Camping!

These work great! It'll take a few uses before you get them seasoned sufficiently so that the bread doesn't stick to the insides of the pie iron, but you will love these. Make sure you keep them somewhere dry so that they don't rust!
