A Fine Piece of Work,
By Theseus "theseus" (US of A) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rommel's Army in Africa (Hardcover)
Since this book is centered around the Dale McGuirk collection of Rommel artifacts, one would expect it to have strong visuals. And it does: over 250 illustrations, including 20 color plates.
However, this is more than a book about a collection. This is about all aspects of the German experience in North Africa: the legend of Rommel, the challenges he faced, day-in-the-life information about soldiers, organization of the forces, important officers, and an over 50 page section on the narrative of the action these troops saw. Hardback: paper over boards in dustjacket; 192 pp, indexed. This review is from: Rommel's Army in Africa (Hardcover)
this book gives an excellent history in detail of the german army's campaign in north africa from 1941-1943. The details about the uniforms, soldiers and interviews with Afrika Korp veterans gives the reader an insight of what is was like to be in North Africa. This book was very well researhed and a must for all military historians. This book is a must have for historians and would be valuable in a University history class setting as a reference; due to its excellent research and subject knowledge. A must have book for all historical collections.
