3.0 out of 5 stars Cool songs but not the best
I loved the movie, I laughed and thought the songs were especially great. But songs that are on the CD (like "Blood and Roses" and "Everybody wants to rule the world") seemed to get lost in the shuffle. I don't particuarly remember hearing them in the movie. 4.0 out of 5 stars It's got some great songs, and a few bad ones, April 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Romy And Michele's High School Reunion: Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Romy and Michele is my favorite movie. Added to that, it has a great soundtrack to go with it. Unfortunately, it's missing "Time After Time", "I'm Just A Girl", and "Footloose", which are all great songs. But the soundtrack DOES include songs from the GO GO's, and Tears for Fears. I think a third CD should be created, including the 3 songs listed above, but i would recommend this to anyone who likes the movie and 80's music

Better and more knowingly played songs like "Time after Time" and "I'm just a girl" were over looked. As "I'm just a girl" played and was hip, catchy and was at the beginning of the movie and Time after Time was played during the most outrageous and surprising dance number I have ever seen we were gyped out of these great songs. If you're going to put a song in a memorable scene at least include it on the soundtrack. Besides, did we really need "Turning Japanese?"

The soundtrack is great, but only gets three stars because it's missing the key song of the entire movie: "Time After Time," which we hear twice. Fatal flaw.

After seeing the film "Romy & Michele..." I had to buy the soundtrack and I was quite pleased with it. Some of the songs on the CD are better than a lot of the songs that come out today. "The GoGo's", "Tears For Fears" & Belinda Carlisle are my favourites to listen to on the CD, but the CD is not flaw free. Some of the cheesy songs that I never cared for like "I Want Candy" or "Cruel Summer" are included, but that's a matter of personal opinion. Some people may be annoyed that some of the more prominant songs featured in the movie are not included like "Time After Time" & "Footloose." However, what annoyed me the most was the version of Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" that was put on the CD. I never remembered the song sounding that way before, so the next day I bought Belinda Carlisle's album "Heaven on Earth" and indeed the original album version was on there and is much better. I found out later that the version of the song on this soundtrack is actually a remix called the "Heavenly Version", how it got put on here instead I'll never know(incidentally the version in the film is the original album version!). I have no idea if any of the other songs on here are remixes, but if you are planning on buying the CD for Belinda Carlisle's song, you'd be better off buying her "Heaven On Earth" album or a greatest hits album. Other than that the CD can be a great nostalgic listen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Uhhhh..., July 26, 2003

Well, first off I would like to say how totally awesome this movie is. And then I will continue to say how this soundtrack, was really good...but...of course there's a but...it could have been better. I would have really liked to have heard "Time After Time". That is the perfict song. I was bummed to learn that the cd didn't have that song, but all in all, it was a great cd. I give it 4 stars...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best '80s hits!, May 16, 1998
By A Customer
This is an outrageously-'80s CD! It's full of fun '80s songs that will make you get up and dance! That's why I love it - the whole soundtrack is upbeat and fast and no time to feel bad! The best songs are "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" and "Venus." I think the '80s was the best decade for music, and all the best tunes are here!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie. My friends and I can quote it word for word! To have all of the songs all together on a cd is awesome! Great Roadtrip CD! If you know the movie, every song takes you back to the scene in the movie and you live it all again!

Okay so the movie isn't an epic tale, but, the music is still a quirky pick me up. So, pick it up!
