3.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD, I love Ron White,But....
All or Most of the first Blue Collar Comedy Tour DVD is on this DVD. Yes, I am a penny pincher. A lot of duplicate Ron White material makes this DVD somewhat expensive (and disappointing if you're looking for new stuff).

IT is true that a lot of the jokes that are in this DVD were used by Ron White in the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. But that does not make them any less funny. I found Ron to be the funniest of all the comedians in the tour, so if you liked Ron and only Ron from the BCCT, then this DVD would be worth your money. However, if you liked all of the comedians, then invest in the BCCT.

Ron talks about his rich and spoiled ex-wife upon whom he cheated due to a lack of intimate activity. Included is humor about his dog's bodily functions, his problems with an airplane flight, and his deer-hunting cousin. There is more but I would have to watch the DVD again to remember.

Yes, Ron does use more language than in the BCCT, but I did not in any way find it to be so offensive that I would want to throw the DVD away. Basically, if you are a person who LOVED his jokes from the BCCT, then this is the DVD for you. I can watch this DVD once a month and not get bored of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Funniest Comedian I've Seen In A While, August 2, 2004
This review is from: Ron White - They Call Me Tater Salad (DVD)
Like other reviewers, I had never seen Ron White until I saw the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour" movie. And although he got less screen time than the other 3 comedians, he stole that show. As a result of that success, he got to have his own show on Comedy Central, which is the show on this DVD.

I have to say that almost all of the jokes he told in "BCCT" are repeated in this special, so the impact wasn't as strong on me. But there are a few new bits that will make you laugh, including some hilarious stories dealing with his wife and bulldog. He's much more profane in this performance (BCCT was fairly clean), but I don't think to an over-the-top degree.

Ron "Tater Salad" White has become an overnight success in the past year or so and I hope to see new bits in the not too distant future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny, but not meant for the entire family., December 29, 2005

This review is from: Ron White - They Call Me Tater Salad (DVD)
After watching and LOVING the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, my family (which includes teenagers) wanted to collect the solo acts from these talented comedians. Unless I'm missing something, "Ron White - They Call Me Tater Salad", provides no rating guidelines. When I purchased this dvd for my family I made the assumption that it would be similar in tone to Ron's Blue Collar Comedy routines, which showcase his bad-boy image and are a bit off-color, but not overly so. Way wrong assumption! Much of this routine is repeated from the Blue Collar Comedy Tours, but with the addition of four-letter words and, at times, some explicit sexual language. So, if you are looking for adult comedy, you will more than likely love this dvd. If you have watched the Blue Collar Comedy shows and are hoping for some fresh material from Ron, you may be disappointed in this choice. Ultimately, if you are searching for something that is family-friendly, you may want to look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, September 16, 2005
This review is from: Ron White - They Call Me Tater Salad (DVD)
I first heard of Ron White in the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. And his short routine had me laughing for hours. So when I saw his DVD in the local record store,I had to have it. I listened to the preview in the store, and people thought I was crazy with how much I laughed. This by far was the best and Funniest DVD I have ever owned.

For a little over an hour you'll do nothing but laugh with tears running out your eyes on topics ranging from why sunglasses are so expensive, hurricanes and being arrested for being drunk in public. He's a great storyteller. I can't wait to see him in concert as soon as I can. This is a MUST OWN for any comedy lover.

5.0 out of 5 stars HYSTERICAL!, October 24, 2004
This review is from: Ron White - They Call Me Tater Salad (DVD)
After seeing a portion of this show on cable, I immediately ordered the DVD. I've watched it at least 4 times now and I STILL laugh so hard I cry. Maybe it was the years I spent in Texas with guys who sound and act so much like Ron, or maybe it's just because the guy nails his humor with a combination of tone and facial expressions that just kill. I'm now buying more copies to give as gifts. It's something I just can't wait to share.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really get this, February 24, 2005
This review is from: Ron White - They Call Me Tater Salad (DVD)
Since this one is new to me (had never seen Ron White before), I have to give it a high-five. In his own warped way, he makes our beloved rednecky humor a teaching tool and it's very intelligent. Great insight on the mundane things that really cause us all problems. Love the delivery & the smokes & the bourbon & water. Love to get his exwife's phone number.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best enjoyed while Drunk in Public, December 2, 2004
This review is from: Ron White - They Call Me Tater Salad (DVD)
Ron White has become my new favorite comic. With a performance decidedly different than his Blue Collar appearance, Ron entertains a Kalamazoo crowd with tales of being denied beer unless he used "coupins," his in-laws, and a fling in Columbus that put a damper on his marriage. His crowning piece is, of course, his altercation at a bar and subsequent arrest for "Drunk in Public," and his given alias.

This DVD also includes a sit-down interview with White that also showcases his irreverant style of humor. Blue Collar Fans and fans of Texas humor in general will enjoy <Tater Salad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny..., July 27, 2004
This review is from: Ron White - They Call Me Tater Salad (DVD)
Ron White is quite good. A very funny blend of good ole' boy and bitter new york drunk. My advice though would be to just watch the Blue Collar Comedy Tour instead- particularly if you're buying it, as it is most of the same material, but with the Blue Collar Tour, you get 3 other comedians as well.
